You know what sucks? When your father is actively plotting to destroy your mother financially and emotionally, and its going to be up to you to pick up the pieces when its all said and done.
We went down home and to Kambrah for the last week.
We met up with the Canberra crowd, and we had a small bonfire and worked on building a bigger one for later.
We saw Lolcatz, who is now a polar bear.
All in all, it was a grand time.

Thanks to everyone for all the love and attention that was lavished on the set, and I do mean lavished. Word on the street is that it's a little unprecedented to get to 1000 comments in the first 24 hours of being in MR. I'm stunned. That's my girl and my photography out there doing so awesomely. So thankyou again to everyone who gave it a little love. We both appreciate it muchly.
And hopefully we'll get on with making some more sets. I'm keen to keep working on my photography, because although that set turned out pretty rad, I don't think I'm anywhere near the league of other hopeful photographers like Valkyrie. And I doubt I'll ever be as good as the legendary tmronin or 2shadowland. But hey, i'm inspired, and I'm gonna keep working to get better.

My cat has a laptop fetish. It will sit on the keyboard of my laptop whether the computer is on or off. If the lid is shut, it will sit there running around it in circles pawing at it and trying to open it.
The other night, I left the laptop on overnight downloading torrents, and put it under my bed, very nearly closed, so she wouldn't sit on it and cause chaos.
Nonetheless, I woke up to frantic beeping from my computer because the fucking cat had wormed her way under the bed and squeezed her way into the almost closed computer and was asleep on the keyboard again.

And this is me drunk at my friend's housewarming, no doubt thrilling everyone with impromptu discussions of Finnish grammar.

So Countessa's set has gone live, and we're both a little overwhelmed at the response. She's had 750 comments in less than 24 hours, with 99% saying 'pink!' There have been positive comments from such illustrious figures as Dot, tmronin and MartyDistortion. And not only are people (rightly) commenting on how succulently GAWJUS Countessa is, they're also saying pretty things about my photography. Which is pretty nice, considering that when I went to Japan, I double exposed half my films, and the rest mostly consisted of my thumb across the image.
So now all I wanna do is get out and take some photos, of anything and everything, especially since the light is so pretty about now. But I have to do some essay writing. Anyway, I'll cheat here and show some pics from the set, seeing as I haven't uploaded any other stuff I've been photographing. Κοιτάξτε!

I feel like I've grown up more in the past week than I have in a long time.
The current plan is to become party to a loan to bail out my Mum after the court awarded a whole chunk of her money to my fuckwit of a father in the divorce settlement. It's not a terribly huge loan, but without going into detail it amounts to me paying for land that up til now I thought was solidly and irrevocably my family's land. Now we have to mortgage that land and essentially buy it all over again (it was first purchased 150 years ago for a couple of pounds). And my fuckwit of a father gets a whole slab of money for nothing.
The lesson of the story is that the law is set up to destroy anyone who doesn't have immaculate paperwork. If you're slightly disorganised, it will punish you. It has nothing to do with justice.
So go get your paperwork in order, and keep all your receipts for everything, because otherwise the law is going to anally rape you.
On a happier note, my next blog should include a heap of pictures, both of the gorgeous Countessa, and of many other things.

My father has been attempting through court to bleed my mother dry post-divorce... essentially to take her family's land from her, that she inherited herself. That same land is the land I grew up on, and is land that has been in my family for 150 years. It's also the land that Countessa and I plan to build our house on.
The judge has just awarded $230,000 to him, which my mother has to pay within sixty days or he will be awarded land. Essentially what this means is that the land will have to be mortgaged and the main weight of paying off that mortgage will fall on me and my sister. Now I'm aware that most people who build a house will pay more than that for their block. But it's a real kick in the teeth to suddenly be, most likely, paying for land that I thought I already essentially owned. And all that to go to a man who has never done a useful thing in his life, but has only fed like a parasite on those stupid enough to have loved him. And then there is the sheer emotional trauma that this puts on my mother, who has already had to put up with him through 20+ years of marriage. To have the home which you have lived in for 50 years threatened to be given to someone who you were good enough to allow into your home and live there for free.....that's gotta be a heavy burden to bear.
My old man hasn't spoken to me in 3+ years now. Now that the divorce is completely over, I'm going to be looking forward to changing my name... I feel dirty for having his name and the name of his family associated with me. And I'm looking forward to sending him a copy of the name-change certificate.
I keep struggling to believe I'm descended from such a miserable example of a human being. He has been an incredibly good anti-role model. Everything he did as I grew up, I did the opposite. And as a result I have friends and people who love me. He's living alone with his mother, and they hate each other. His entire life seems to be devoted to spite. And I guess he continues to be the perfect anti-role model.
Slipknot's first album is a good thing to be listening to at the moment.

Countessa and I are prolly gonna go to Europe this summer (aussie summer that is)... Hoping to go to Britain briefly and see some museums in London relevant to Greece and Crete, and then spend some time in Crete and maybe some of the other islands. Very excited.
