etid and the bled aren't mad music for me. they're utility music for when i'm getting down to business- cooking, cleaning, working out, etc. my mad music depends on what i'm mad about, but it's usually something i can sing really loud or something to take my mind off stuff.

now, is npr a response to or the cause of boredom?

I'm rather impressed with the variety of music here. Most of all, NPR. I listen to NPR on a daily through internet. I always download the Science Friday segments I find to be most interesting to my phone for a good listen wherever I go as well. My list would look drastically different as rap isn't really in my catalog of musical preferences. Just for fun, I'll put mine on here.

Happy: Regina Spektor, Led Zeppelin, Frank Sinatra, Marvin Gaye, The Twin Cats
Sad: Interpol, Meg Lee Chin (she is only used if I need to get put in a better mood, though)
Bored: The Legendary Pink Dots, The Tear Garden, Nurse With wound, Throbbing Gristle
Hyped: Deftones, Soundgarden
Angry: Rage Against the Machine.

Essentially, boredom is when I listen to the most obscure bands in my collection. Flowing through the worlds they create through sounds and lyrics is what it is all about there.

I'm great! just got home from brunch with some girl friends, all jacked up on coffee!!

i find i can easily tune out NPR and if i happen to actually listen i usually learn something. i dont think it causes boredom, haha.
