Ok after the convincing of a very special friend, I have decided to stick around. It appears as if people do pay attention to my mindless rambling and such. I promise to write a more appropriate blog later. Homework is calling my name.
My account is due to expire in April and I am seriously considering not renewing my subscription. I do not feel like part of the community anymore.
For those of you who do not know me. My name is Jenny. I am a 31 year old native of Charleston,WV who currently lives in Fayette County. I am disabled and suffer from Cerebral Palsy and am currently confined to a wheelchair. However, I do not let my disability stop me from living a normal life.I am a self-published author, a stepmother, and a graduate student pursuing a MS in Child and Adolescent Development, in addition to a post BA certificate in Higher Education from Capella University. I hope to obtain an online adjunct faculty position teaching Psychology after graduation.
Due to having Cerebral Palsy and needing newer medical treatment, I am having an online fundraiser for the medical device that I am trying to purchase that will prevent me from dragging my right foot through the process of electrical stimulation. This device would allow me to walk on my crutches again and no longer be confined to a wheelchair. If you want to learn more about the device i am trying to buy you can go to the following website:
WALKAIDE STIMULATION SYSTEM
The fundraiser page itself can be found at the following web address:
HELP JENNY WALK AFTER 3 YEARS OF BEING CONFINED TO A WHEELCHAIR
Those who donate will be entered into a drawing at the end of the fundraiser to win a $50 Amazon.com gift card. Sounds exciting eh? Not to mention, you will get a video of me walking for the first time posted for all to see.
If you feel like spreading the word, then please do so. I would greatly appreciate it. I am determined to get out of my wheelchair and back on my feet with my crutches within the year. Much love to all. <3

I made a newer more professional fundraiser site for my Walkaide fundraiser. Hopefully, I can get this widget to work because the page is so totally rocking.
This fundraiser means so much to me. I want to walk again so bad. Especially for the sake of my stepson.
Meh. As usual the widget or my lack of knowledge of html would work so here is handy link to the awesome page: Help Jenny Walk After 3 Years in a Wheelchair

There is this new assistive device for Cerebral Palsy patients who experience drop foot like myself called "WALKAIDE." This is great news. I immediately called my doctor and the company where I get my orthotic equipment hoping to get one. However, as usual my insurance will not pay for it. It costs $4000 dollars. Having this would improve my walking ability immensely. I have been confined to a wheelchair for three years now. Walking again would be a dream come true. Help me make this dream a reality.
1-11-13: Fundraiser Update #1
Let's make this fundraiser exciting for everyone. For each person that donates they will not only be helping me achieve my dream of walking independently, but they will also be entered into a separate drawing for a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate at the conclusion of the fundraising event. Sound like a good idea to you guys? Yea. I thought so too...Happy donating....

Help Jenny Walk Independently After 3 Long Years!!!
I had a real pretty widget to use for donations instead of the link but I am not good with html so I couldn't get it to post correctly.

I am still trying to raise money for the WALKAIDE System to prevent the drop foot caused my Cerebral Palsy. The one site I was using got shut down so Chablis recommended I try this as a fundraising option. I am not good with html so I am not sure if I can get the widget to post. However, I hope it does. Any help toward reaching this goal would be greatly appreciated. Walking again would be a dream come true for me.
**Edit: I couldn't get the widget to post so I am just going to have to post a link.

As if it wasn't bad enough losing my grandmother last week, I found out today that my kitty back home in Charleston passed away today. I will always keep you in my heart, Leo. ♥ He is with momaw Ruth in heaven now and I know she is taking good care of him

As many of you are aware my grandmother was on life support for the past several days. Well, she went home to be with the Lord at 12am EST today. She is now at peace. Her one dream for me was to be the most independent person I could be and to never let my disability hinder me from living a happy, productive, and successful life. She loved seeing me reach goals that doctors said were impossible. Prior to her becoming ill she knew that my mobility had declined. This saddened her and I both greatly. I made a promise to myself and her that one day I would walk again. I plan on keeping that promise. It is going to be hard and take lots of work, sweat, dedication, and support, but I will do anything to show her that once again I defeated the illness that I was born with. So I dedicate this blog to my angel of a grandmother who is now looking down on me from heaven. Momaw Ruth, this is for you.
First, I am going to take a moment to apologize. This is going to be quite a lengthy blog. I please ask of you to take the time to read it. I must say I am truly blessed to be where I am today. I am so thankful to be with the wonderful fiance I am and be surrounded by his wonderful family, including my stepson, Brandon. I have never been so happy in my life. I only have one complaint about my life as of recent. I have not been able to walk with my crutches since moving in with him three years ago. I am now totally confined to a wheelchair.
This breaks my heart. I have always walked with assistance whether it be a walker or crutches since the age of three.
As I stated previously, my wish from my grandmother and I was for me to walk again. We could even call it a New Years Resolution if you wanted. How is this possible you ask? I need to be able to get the device to prevent drop foot, which is my main impairment with mobility at the moment, It is called the "WALKAIDE SYSTEM." Sadly, my insurance will not cover the device and it costs roughly around $5000. I started a fundraiser previously in which I have gotten some very generous donations, some of which have been from fellow SG members. That site will no longer running as of December 31st and I will no longer be able to receive donations there. Therefore, I started a new fundraising page. Up to this point, I do not nearly have enough for the device. Total, I have around $200 in combination between the old site and this new one.
Help me make our dream of walking come true and donate to my fundraiser and make this the best year ever! Let's go out of 2012 with a bang and excuse the pun, but "start 2013 on the right foot." Below I will post links to the fundraiser and more information about the "WALKAIDE SYSTEM" for those of you who are curious....

I had to do something yesterday that I wish and hope no one ever has to experience. I had to say goodbye to my gentle, loving grandmother who I saw suffering on life support. It has left me heartbroken. <\3 At least she had enough strength to whisper I love you to me to the best of her ability. I am at peace with that and I hope she will be soon too! I love you, momaw! You were the greatest!

This will be my Christmas blog. I must say I am truly blessed to be where I am today.
