I’m private

In which she is vain

I'm an adult again.

Today I resumed sensible adult employment. After reading this, I've stopped to take note that I'm earning an entirely adequate salary while also being able to contribute to a job that, while dreary and uninspiring, is entirely divested from ethically dubious corporate enterprise. I work for the branch of the government that makes sure commonwealth public servants don't spend their retirement penniless and hungry.

I do this for one year, and I'll settle my credit card and have enough money for a small fortune in medical expenses (which are offset, somewhat, by my countries socialised healthcare, and offset somewhat further by my private health insurance[1]). I have to live in a town that meets absolutely none of my emotional needs, but I've reached an accommodation with that.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
1: Which, as a result of my country's socialised medicine, must provide "over and above meeting your medical needs" care (and dental care, because we don't socialise that yet) in order to be competitive, rather than "we will take your money and maybe you can have nothing, yeah?"

I'd much rather private care was done away with entirely; I'd be happy to pay the twenty dollars a fortnight mine costs in additional tax, and have socialised dentistry. But we don't have that yet.

Carly Simon joke not made.

If you want to stop feeling like an adult go spend a weekend with your parents.

Do not get me started on universal health care. How can we still not have it?!? Then when we pass a version of it, it is a crappy joke of a plan. People think it will be improved later on - HA that is a joke too. madmadmad

No seeing your sense of humor in action reminds me why I miss you so much, silly! Cause you're adorable!

Just graduated a few months ago trying to find a day job in California so I can build up a makeup career on the weekends.

Motherhood is great. Exhausting but the most incredible high at the same time.

I hope you are well. Being an adult on occasion is not so bad. I am finally about to pay off my credit cards after about 5 years and $15,000 in debt for university. So I feel your pains regarding adult jobs to pay the bills. Chin up my lovely.
