I chopped me some bangs yesterday! I am pretty darn happy with my handy work too. Yay for impulsiveness. May I never have the same look as I did the previous year (and sometimes month).

The new obsessions I have discovered now that I live in NYC:

Expensive French Lingerie

My favorite Sushi restaurant (this is the bathroom obviously, I just think it is rad)

The snow

My local Polish Deli (Perogis, Kilbasa and Saurkraut...Yum!!)

And the teeny tiny apartment my boyfriend and I share....ha!

Yes, this Cali girl has certainly made a home for herself in the Big Apple. I do believe, and probably always will that California will always hold a very special warm fuzzy spot in my heart, but NYC has definitely swept me off my feet!

Admittedly I moved here for love. As you do when you are young and unafraid, but not unaware, of the tragedy of heartbreak and the risk involved with giving up your entire life to be with someone else. Because surely it is a great risk. And believe me, my family did put up a fight. But what can they do, really? I am almost 30, and been self reliant since I was 18. But that is what life is all about. Taking risks and chances, and most importantly following your heart.

So here I am, almost into my third month on the right coast, sick as a dog, and wishing for a break from the retched cold. Not working yet, but I have been hired. Yes, you see, I will be working for a new Tavern opening up soon, we just havent yet acquired the all powerful liquor license, which is quite necessary in case you were wondering. But still, I keep myself busy and quite content in fact. Most of my days are spent in a fairly routine manner. I wake up, lay there for a bit, make coffee and breakfast and write a list of things to do. I manage to fit in a solid 4 days of Yoga (except this week since I am dying of sinus congestion), usually walk all over the city and window shop since I am too poor to actually purchase anything and cook, a lot. That is pretty much what my weekdays are like. Weekends are often more exciting with the boyfriend home from work. We like to run around, eat out, and join up with some mates to watch footy (soccer).

Back to me cooking, I have discovered I am a surprisingly great chef. I mean, I always knew I could cook, its just that I worked nights so I never really got a lot of practice in. This week I have done Butter Chicken, Turkey Meatballs in marinara, Chicken Marsala, Grapefruit Cupcakes and tonight will be Moussaka. I love to make traditional dishes of other countries. Its my favorite.

I wont really be doing much today. I feel awful and want to be 100% for the weekend. Sunday will be a big day out for us. Huge soccer match between Liverpool and Chelsea (go Reds) and then of course there is the Super Bowl (which I could really care less about). So if I am expecting my body to handle a good 12 hours or more of running around and being social (drinking), I sure as shit better be getting my rest.

In other news I am hoping to do a couple new sets. No really, I am serious this time. This morning, in my miserable state, I contacted Fractal and Brooklyn about possibly working with them in the next month or so. I really hope to make front page this time. It's a must! So wish me luck! I'll be sure to keep everyone updated if and when we do end up shooting. I think I am gonna get back in bed now. Cheers!

Been having a hard time keeping up with you SG. My internet at home sucks and I feel like I have been so caught up with my new life in NYC. Its a new year, and as I was reminded more than once yesterday, it is time to look for a job. The past month and a half has been glorious without work, but it has left me not only broke, but quite honestly, bored. So mostly I want to work simply to fill in the gaps of my days. The only bummer is that I have to build my resume. I havent needed one in years because I have been fortunate enough to have fallen into jobs based on who I knew...after all, who you know does matter. So I guess I will begin today. Ugh.

The Holidays were incredible for me. It was my first time away from home, and I couldnt have felt more welcome being with my boyfriends family. They are so amazing and made me feel right at home. We ate and drank and laid around and put on all the holiday weight you expect to. And I was happy to do so, tho now, as usual, I am kicking myself a bit. But Im not so worried, I'll drop it soon enough smile

We were given a couple gifts that I am terribly excited about. A Keurig for my coffee addiction really makes life easy, and a kick-ass food processor to evoke and satisfy my inner chef. I have already put the coffee maker to good use and I have been avidly searching recipes for my other new toy. First on the agenda is to make Hummus and Salsa. I haven't been able to find a salsa recipe that sounds good, so I think I will just wing it. I figure I will roast garlic and a variety of peppers but use fresh tomatoes, onion and cilantro. Blend it up and I imagine it will be good to go. Feel free to let me in on any tips you may have for salsa wink

As far as resolutions go, I dont have one, nor do I really believe in them either. I do have some things I would like to do this year. Besides things I need to do or should do (like getting a job), I would love to travel to Europe. I have never been, but I know I will love it. My boyfriend asked me to pick 5 cities and we will go. So, in no particular order, I chose: Paris, Liverpool, Prague, Barcelona and Rhome. And hopefully we will get to hit them all in one trip. Fingers are crossed.

I have also been badly wanting to do another set for SG. It has been such a long time coming and I wished I would have done one sooner, but life has a funny way of getting in the way. Its fine tho. I am fairly certain that this next set will be a front pager for sure.

Well I better be off and get started on my big to-do list I have wrote up for myself. Hope everyone had a fantastic New Year and a very Happy Holiday!!

I will leave you with some fun winter pics:

Finally in my new city!! Cant even express how happy I am for all of my new beginnings. Each day is a new adventure and I love to dive head first as soon as my foot hits the pavement. And believe me, I have never walked so much in my life! Ha. Its kind of my new obsession. Im not particular on where I walk or where I end up, I simply enjoy the journey. It really the people that fascinate me, and the architecture. I saw the Flatiron building, quite by accident in fact, and it practically knocked me on my feet. LOVE!

Being in New York city has also lead me to realize that drinking is a must! I mean, its everywhere, and I am somehow right in the thick of it. Not necessarily by choice, but it seems almost the right and natural activity to partake in. Needless to say, my body is quite pissed! But I'm getting on alright.

Well I will be in touch soon. I want to start documenting the fun details of my new life, so stay tuned.

Oh!! And I really want to do another set, maybe beginning of the new year, so if anyone who is reading this right now is a staff photographer, or at least has experience in the SG world, please PM me. I would love to get together for a cup of coffee or beer wink and discuss it.
