John is getting frustrated with AoC because of the travelling. He doesn't like how you have to travel between places-It's not a seemless map like WoW. And the world map is damn near unreadable. The other thing we both do not like is how small the world seems. There's Aquilonia, Cimmeria, and Stygia and each place seems kind of small. I mean, it could be just because we're still lvl 35 and under so maybe we're just not able to access a lot of the content yet but still. Even as low lvls in WoW you still get a pretty good idea of how big places are. Individual zones are a good size (so good, they have flight plans!).
The one thing that I do like about AoC compared to WoW is how much faster you lvl up. You could casually play AoC and still lvl up faster than what you could if you casually played WoW. However, how the hell do you make money in AoC?? I've been selling all of my inventory and have even put stuff in AH and I will not have my money for a mount by lvl 40 (I'm like lvl 34). It is so hard to make money on that game. WoW, it is so easy! I'd have my mount money and then some by the time I'm lvl 30.
I don't like the way they do professions in AoC either. You don't get gathering professions until lvl 20 and then you have to do gathering quests. However, the nodes/veins/whatever they're called are NOT marked on your mini-map so you spend your time aimlessly wandering around trying to hunt this stuff down. Once you gather 20 of everything you need, now they send you out on a hunt for a rare version of what you just gathered. I have no clue what happens after that because I haven't gotten that far. You don't get any actual professions until lvl 40. However, the items players craft are supposed to be better than dropped items.
The way its set for gathering materials is okay but can be frustrating. All the nodes are fixed. They will always forever respawn in that same exact spot. However, it has limited resources. You could be searching everywhere, find the node you need and be thankful you're able to get one out of it versus the whole 9 or 10. So if you're on a pvp server, be prepared to fight for your node.
My weekend was really looooong....Having that extra day in there makes quite a difference. I did the shoot with Norritt Friday morning. Went home and spent a couple of hrs getting it ready to submit. Cleaned a bit and then took the kids to go see fireworks. Saturday was supposed to be DnD so John and I cleaned. DnD was effectively cancelled because (surprise, surprise) Rob had to work again. But some people did come over to hang out. Sunday was pretty much my lazy day. Just played AoC and then later when to the dollar theater to see Jumper. It wasn't as good as I hoped it would be but definitely better than The Ruins. And I'm beginning to severely dislike Samuel L. Jackson. It seems to me he thinks he has to be in every movie known to man good or bad. I mean come on-Snakes on a Plane?? Was he fucking high or something when he read the script for that???
This week I'll be taking it easy because next week is going to be busy! All the way from the 11th-20th and then the 22nd. It kind of sucks I won't be able to relax much in my last few weeks before I start school again. And I'm kind of not looking forward to going back but I have to...
I better stop now before I start writing a serious novel
