This weekend I joined a grand total of eight people at a screening of Dredd 3D. It's a very good example of mainstream, mid-budget British film-making, so I didn't begrudge paying the 3D premium as much as I would have done were it a post-converted 'Clash/Wrath of the Tits' or somesuch. I won't offer a full review, because it's been a long day and quite frankly I'm tired, but I will say that the most impressive and expansive element of this B-Movie was its texture. Paul Leonard-Morgan, the soundtrack's composer, is an integral layer of this cinematic fabric, and put me in mind of another wonderful drone artist, Ben Frost. Because the title of my favourite track is slightly spoilerific, I've hidden it, but if you enjoy it, the Frost underneath is also beautiful.
