An update to yesterday's blog: I took the plunge and rang Keats house, spoke to the girl and gave her my correct details. She was incredibly gracious about what I'm sure must have been a pretty traumatic ordeal for her. So, we'll see. But I'm satisfied that I've done everything I can.

I had an awesome writing morning. I've been grappling with the voice I wanted for a core character in my book. It is this character (which perhaps isn't quite the right word) that outlines the ethical framework for my world and political context. Its quite hard to build something from the ground up, but now I've got a style down for this character things should be much easier. I've just got to ensure my pseudo-philosophical mumblings are on the money and arguments watertight. Its all good fun. This is important because the character in question, and their affect on the story, is my book's USP. Without this its all fairly hackneyed.

Well, even by my standards, this has been a boring blog.

sorry!

Hand accessories? Do you have a thing about a woman wearing rings or something??!

I think she'll probably contact you, that she was willing to accept your number, etc. smile

Haha! I'm the only person who'd manage that! In the busiest street of Scotland's largest city to boot... yes, I truly am special in that regard.

Ach. I can totally see why you are wary of that, but look up and forward, if there's one thing I've learned in my adult life it's that sometimes life can throw some really interesting curveballs at you and you can end up doing and loving something you vowed not to do/never do again.

But I am a hopeless romantic in that regard, even after my last relationship, which is something that left me with nothing and in a very very bad place. I'm either stupid or idealistic. Maybe a mix of the two! x

Oh, but I'm a bit of a schrodinger's cat of a woman in that respect (I couldn't just say a paradox, because I love the schrodinger's cat analogy, ok? tongue). I'm very cynical and often quite bitter, but also hopelessly optimistic. Even after two years of rejection after rejection from cute boys I still don't give up because I keep thinking my luck can't be that bad and that by the law of averages that someone sometime will work out.

But I can match the greatest of cynics for cynicism... smile

I would probably own you. I don't know how, but I am stupidly strong and tough despite being small!

Haha. At least you'd welcome it, most boys don't appreciate being beaten up by a girl of 5ft 2! tongue

I'm glad you phoned.

In a film you definitely would have phoned. And we all know the best romances happen in films, and not real life tongue

Hope she gets in touch. But what's this about no convention? shocked

Hey, if I was that girl I'd be flattered a guy liked me so much that he called back to give the right number. Most people are too chicken to do that, me included. tongue

I must say, I think you handled that exceptionally well.
Character voice and development - so very critical in a book as well in everyday life.
Kudos, sir! Well plotted.
