so, i've just watched Blindness, with Mark Ruffalo and Julianne Moore.
its an incredibly bleak but evocative depiction of what society does in the face of being fucked up, i.e: fuck things up some more. I seem to remember it getting mixed reviews on release, but i suspect that's due to the fact that you experience the movie as you experience requiem for a dream. you don't watch it in the same way as, say, Paul Blart: Mall Cop.
It got me thinking about appropriate film double bills, linked in some way. This might be via theme or director or cast, and so far I have:
Fight Club/ American Psycho
Blindness/ Children of Men
Last of the Mohicans/ The New World
Days of Heaven/ The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
2001: A Space Odyssey/ Alien
Metropolis/Blade Runner
The Thomas Crown Affair (remake)/ Duplicity
Election/ Brick
The Last Supper/ Swimming with Sharks
Office Space/ One Night at McCools
The Fugitive/ Tell No-One
What would be your movie double features?
