Long Live the King - Sons of Anarchy Season 5 Preview
Season 5 of the outlaw biker drama Sons of Anarchy will land on TV screens this Tuesday, Sept 11 but before it kicks off let's get ready for what we're all about to see unfold with SAMCRO (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original for those curious) this year.
New Faces in New Places
Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter has always done a fantastic job of creating new, vital characters to refresh the canvas of the outlaw bikers in California, and as season 5 approaches it appears this year is no different.
Here are some of the new faces that will move into Charming this year:
Jimmy Smits as Nero Padilla – a Latin gangster who will serve as a bit of a mentor to Jax Teller as he takes over the reigns as president of SAMCRO, and also eases his way into his mother Gemma's bed as well.
Harold Perrineau as Damon Pope – A reformed gangster turned businessman whose daughter died in Tig's ill-fated attempt at revenge when he believed gang members from Oakland were responsible for Clay's shooting. Pope will be the main antagonist for season 5.
Ashlee Tisdale as Emma Jean – A high priced escort who gets involved with the Sons this season.
Rusty Coones (founder of the Orange County chapter of the Hell's Angels) as Quinn, leader of the SAMCRO NOMAD chapter – The NOMAD's have been mentioned in several seasons of the show – essentially the bikers who are part of the Sons of Anarchy who belong to no regional charter. This season the Hell's Angels leader takes the role of Quinn giving a face to the name mentioned in SAMCRO lore.
Chuck Zito as Frankie Diamonds – It wasn't long ago that former Hell's Angels member and famous biker Chuck Zito was suing FX and Kurt Sutter for stealing his idea for an outlaw biker show, but now cooler heads have prevailed and Zito will instead take a role in season 5 of the show. Frankie Diamonds is a member of the afore mentioned NOMAD chapter of SAMCRO and he will appear in multiple episodes this year.
The King is Dead – Long Live the King
At the end of last season, former SAMCRO President Clay was laying in a hospital bed after taking two gunshots from Opie after Clay killed his father. Jax found out that Clay was responsible for his own father's death as well and didn't ask, but told him that he was taking over as the head of the table for the Sons of Anarchy.
With Jax taking over, he has a new 'sergeant at arms' with his good friend Chibs now sitting to his right, but there is an empty seat to his left.
The role of vice-president remains open after Jax's best friend Opie no showed his meeting to declare his new-found leadership. Opie was still feeling burnt that Jax didn't let him off Clay when he had the chance, and didn't tell him straight away that he was the one responsible for his father's death.
According to creator Kurt Sutter, Opie's trust issues will continue to play into season 5 as he tries to fine his rightful place at the SAMCRO table…but will it be to back up his best friend Jax or not?
"At the end of last season, as much as I wanted to put Opie at that table, it just didn't seem like true to the character," Sutter explained when speaking at San Diego Comic Con. "We had damaged him and his family so much that it would have been too neat and too simple to put him at that table. So I felt I really wanted him in the wind for a little bit. We'll see him in essence, the club has to gain his respect back, and we'll see at the end of the second episode that start to happen."
The Crying Clown
Last season was the toughest, but most telling for Juan-Carlos 'Juice' Ortiz, as he had to suffer silently as the cops twisted him in the wind with threats of telling his club that he actually had an African-American father unless he turned informant.
The race issues broke down barriers in terms of telling the inner workings of biker clubs, or any social club really, but at the center of it actor Theo Rossi shined as a tortured soul who lived with shame while trying to deal with the fact that he was ratting out his friends at the same time.
"Juice is just the clown crying on the inside. He's trying to act as if, like when he came into that chapel at the end of season 4 and Jax said 'are you alright?' and he says 'yeah, I'm good' and he took that picture of his father and the ATF, and realized it's all good and got rid of the files. You know, that's not the case," Rossi told SuicideGirls in an exclusive interview.
"So this is a guy who's living with secrets and secrets eventually turn to shame and how that all plays out we've just got to watch and see."
A Whole New World
Kurt Sutter has promised at least seven seasons of Sons of Anarchy to truly tell the story he set out to do when the show started a few years ago. As season 5 begins, we truly do witness a new beginning for the show, the characters and how they will develop as the series starts to wind towards it's final days.
As Rossi tells it, season 5 is a whole new Sons of Anarchy – just as exciting, just as riveting, just as great as the four previous seasons – but something entirely different.
"This is a different show now," said Rossi. "Everyday it's like watching something new play out."
Season 5 of Sons of Anarchy debuts at 10pm ET on Tuesday, Sept 11

Always....
Well I just spent the last 4 days with my girlfriend _hawthorne_ and it was beyond amazing. I'm not going to lie and say I've never been in love before because I have, but the kind of love I feel with this girl is beyond anything I thought was possible.
She came up on Thursday and we were just inseparable and when she left today it literally felt like a part of my heart was gone.
To the happy stuff first!
So on Thursday we didn't do a lot besides get dinner at Max and Ermas and I took her to Homage to get her an Ohio shirt so that way she could always think of here when she wore it. We took some pictures too of course
She looks way better in my glasses than I do
On Friday we went and talked to her company about possibly transferring jobs and her moving to Ohio. The wheels are in motion on her moving here before summer is out and I could not be happier!
After that we took a walk around Dublin here in Columbus and she got to see some of my Irish heritage close up and because I am so head over heels in love with this girl, I bought her a Claddagh ring to show her just how much I'm devoted to her. I plan on one day replacing that with another kind of ring, but this will do for now
She looks good in an Irish driver's cap also
I took her to her favorite restaurant on Friday and we had dinner and then we went to see the Avengers with Kewpie and her girlfriend. I must say for comic book movies I'd rate the Avengers pretty high up there. I still liked Dark Knight, X2 and X-Men First Class better overall, but Avengers got a pretty good rating from me.
Saturday we went to the Columbus Zoo but first we had to take one of those sickeningly sweet pictures everyone hates. Still, we look pretty adorable right? She's rocking that Batman tee and I must say my lady is becoming quite the nerd goddess

I also got her a stuffed animal at the Zoo which she named Columbus in my honor
On Saturday night after the zoo we went out to eat with Phecda and her BF and then I had to work watching the Strikeforce fights, but my lady kept me company all night and we fell asleep in each other's arms.
We had such an amazing weekend together and then on Sunday morning I woke up early and made her breakfast in bed before she had to drive back home.
I know it's cheesy but it literally broke my heart to see her driving away today and I can tell you this without a doubt she's the one i want to spend forever with. I can't wait till she moves here this summer!
So now it's back to work this week with tons of fights coming up in the next few weeks. No travel for me until sometime in June and then in July I'm headed off to San Diego Comic Con once again to cover the event for SuicideGirls so I'm looking forward to that!

Spent the weekend in Knoxville with my lady _hawthorne_ and had an amazing time with her. I so love spending time with her and leaving to go back home just breaks my heart.

We ventured out to downtown Knoxville and ended up at this place called Mass General Store and I found so much cool stuff! This is a southern cherry soda that was delicious!

Not exactly like the way it happened in Good Will Hunting but I recently had to go see about a girl, and found myself a girlfriend.
It's been nearly two years since I've been in a committed relationship, but now that I found that perfect someone, I feel like everything is right with the way we came together.
I actually met _hawthorne_ on SG so there's another thing I love about this site. We have been friends for over a year and just recently after she was out of another relationship I let my feelings be known about her. Long story short, she had a crush on me also.
So after talking for the last month or so we finally got the chance to see each other again when I was down in Atlanta working for the UFC event and let me tell you the moment i set eyes on her I knew it was the right thing.
Haven't been this happy in a long, long time and she's the reason why. So glad she's in my life and I feel pretty much like the luckiest guy on earth right now.
She inspires me in so many ways, makes me want to be the best man I can be for myself and for her.
Also while I was in Atlanta I was of course covering UFC 145. Here are some pics from that:

It's that time again for another blog full of awesomeness mostly in picture form.
Last weekend was the SG Spring/St. Patrick's Day party. Prior to the party on Friday got to hang out with BelleBane and Bounty
Had a good time hanging out with them and truth be told, I'd much rather just be at a bar chilling and having some beers than be in a night club but hey that's just me.
Anyways the day of the party we did some pre-gaming with Tikki, Rainbow, and her hubby Ru5ty
The party itself was alright. Don't want to lie and say I had the best time ever cause honestly I didn't. It was cool just not the best SG party I've ever been to. When Mozaik (the host club we generally hold events at here in Columbus) gets really crowded it's just impossible to move, talk, or do much of anything except bump into people and overpay for drinks.
And I joked the whole night how at SG parties we really don't party, we just take a lot of pictures but somehow that night I didn't manage to take hardly any except one with me and the lovely BelleBane
I did get to say goodbye to Radeo before she left Columbus. Sad she's going away but understand the reason behind it. You'll be missed <3
Cool Things That Have Happened Lately...
First off after The Walking Dead finale aired on Sunday night I hosted a huge Walking Dead themed radio show on my show with fighters Joe Lauzon, Tim Kennedy, Yves Edwards and Nate Quarry all talking about the finale, but the best part was I got to interview two of the cast members from The Walking Dead!

Then on Wednesday night the UFC featured my interview with Dan Hardy on their UFC Tonight show, which was pretty cool I must say
This weekend was the Horror Hound Weekend here in C-Bus and got to meet some cool people there as well.
Me and Danielle Harris...who I have a HUGE crush on. The best part was she's gonna do an interview with me for SG so that should be cool!
Lisa Wilcox AKA Alice from Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and 5. She still looks great too, total sweetheart.

Other than that just been working a lot, gearing up for my trip to Atlanta in April when I get to hang out with Epiic for a few days and see UFC 145: Jones vs. Evans of course!

February Means Time For a New Blog
So what is new in the world of Damon you ask? Well...
1) Went to Nashville in January for the UFC on FX show. Had a good time hanging out with friends and colleagues and went to an awesome bar with the biggest beer on draft selection I've ever seen.
Fights were awesome, lots of knockouts and my buddy Pat Barry got a big win which always makes me happy.
2) From there I went to Chicago for UFC on Fox 2. Remembered to actually take a few pictures at the open workouts there

This is the Pants shop. What significance does it hold to the trip to Chicago? None really but it's the motherfucking Pants Shop!
But by far the best part of my trip to Chicago was finally geting to chill with Amarena!
We met briefly last year, but never actually got to hang out. It was so cool to finally chill with her! I even shared my Nicolas Cage story, which I know for a fact Phecda is also a big fan of
3) After Chicago I finally got to come home and last Thursday I attended a Kevin Smith Q&A that was aired nationwide at movie theaters. It was super cool. I wrote a review that will be up in the SG Blog this week Keep an eye out
4) Made a new profile pic. What do you think?
5) Going to see Blind Pilot here in Columbus on Monday night. I can't even express how excited I am about this show! They've quickly become one of my favorite bands and I'd highly recommend picking up their albums if you have the chance.
6) Very rarely to I pimp out my writing from the MMA world on here, but I wrote this piece today and I'm especially fond of it. It's a behind the scenes look at a great story from the first season of the 'Ultimate Fighter'. Still makes me laugh

7) No real travel for fights coming up until April. March 3 Strikeforce comes to Ohio, which is cool, cause I love covering events from home. It only happens once a year so it's pretty awesome. If anybody is interested in the fights let me know and I'm sure I can bring you down to meet some of the fighters, etc.
In April I'll be heading to Atlanta to cover UFC 145: Jones vs. Evans which will be a fucking epic fight! Hopefully I'll get to see Epiic and Setsuka while I'm in town.
8) My plans for Hell City hit a bump in the road because the UFC scheduled the UFC on Fox 3 card on May 5, which is of course the same weekend as Hell City. I'm hoping I can get out of it because I already put a deposit down on a tattoo. Here's what I should be getting, assuming I can go.

9) I think that's about it from me for now. The UFC has a couple of shows coming up this month and then leading into the Strikeforce show here in Ohio in March, but then I get almost a month off from any events. It actually forces me to work harder to create news for the website, but at the same time I get some free time on weekends, which is pretty awesome.
Although that means I'd need to have a social life, which for those of you that know me, know I'm painfully single and don't have much of a social life but we'll just pretend otherwise

So what is new in the world of Damon you ask? Well...
1) Went to Nashville in January for the UFC on FX show. Had a good time hanging out with friends and colleagues and went to an awesome bar with the biggest beer on draft selection I've ever seen.
Fights were awesome, lots of knockouts and my buddy Pat Barry got a big win which always makes me happy.
2) From there I went to Chicago for UFC on Fox 2. Remembered to actually take a few pictures at the open workouts there

This is the Pants shop. What significance does it hold to the trip to Chicago? None really but it's the motherfucking Pants Shop!
But by far the best part of my trip to Chicago was finally geting to chill with Amarena!
We met briefly last year, but never actually got to hang out. It was so cool to finally chill with her! I even shared my Nicolas Cage story, which I know for a fact Phecda is also a big fan of
3) After Chicago I finally got to come home and last Thursday I attended a Kevin Smith Q&A that was aired nationwide at movie theaters. It was super cool. I wrote a review that will be up in the SG Blog this week Keep an eye out

5) Going to see Blind Pilot here in Columbus on Monday night. I can't even express how excited I am about this show! They've quickly become one of my favorite bands and I'd highly recommend picking up their albums if you have the chance.
6) Very rarely to I pimp out my writing from the MMA world on here, but I wrote this piece today and I'm especially fond of it. It's a behind the scenes look at a great story from the first season of the 'Ultimate Fighter'. Still makes me laugh
