Teaching my lazy ass to post pics from my new laptop after having had it a couple of months already.

Been doing a little biking, exploring the countryside around the Jonestown Swift terminal. Not in the shape I might be in if I weren't making a living in this particular fashion but I'm trying. Yesterday I got to the top of a hill and got off the bike to sit down in the shade to catch my breath, and a pickup truck stops in front of me and a young man gets out and offers me an energy drink, a brand which he is an endorser for. XS, the name of the drink. He gave me his business card, Joshua Monk his name is. There are still some nice people in the world.

Went for another bike ride today, discoverd that the Ft Indiantown Gap national guard base is right near here, and also found a nice park where I found a good place for a swim before some people rafting down the river disturbed me. I tried for some nice pics of snarly tree roots reflecting in the water, but I ran into the brightness range limitations that digital has compared to film. Got to see a couple of women in bikinis, so that was all right. Ate a bunch of raspberries growing wild in the park, as I was pretty hungry. I guess that maybe sounds pretty boring, but it's some seriously beautiful countryside I've been seeing. I was hoping this might be in Amish country, but I'm told there are just a few Amish and Mennonites here in there in these parts, and I didn't encounter any.

There's lots of different Amish communities around the country, but I tend to see more in Indiana than anywhere else. In particular the north-east of the state. There's a ton of RV manufacturers there and that seems to be a very popular occupation among them.

Yes, 2 art nouveau geisha-esque women back to back - on my back. I'm really happy with the work my artist (Amy Justen) did.

I'm having trouble sticking to my weight loss regiment lately. Partly because I'm sick of eating nutrisystem's food and am inclined to cancel it at this point. It works great. I just... like my french toast and grits a bit too much I suppose. But really, if I got even a tiny bit of exercise what I eat would be at least LESS of a concern. Hell, I used to be a Marine so it ain't like I've carried these excess pounds forever. Anyhow the point of all that is that I've been contemplating getting some kind of collapsible bike. I am really not interesting in bringing along my regular bike. I'm not willing to sacrifice the amount of room it'd require. Plus it's a bit too fancy what with disk brakes and all that jazz. Something that folds up might be worth consideration however.

I seem to have less down-time out here on the road than you do. But it wouldn't be accurate to suggest I get none whatsoever. I could sneak in a ride or two a week I'm sure.

Gracias! The festival was a lot of fun and I am now spending today trying to take care of some last-minute business stuff so I can actually relax and enjoy a weekend as a WEEKEND and not a time of non-stop work for a change.

Sounds like YOU'VE been exploring and such a bit lately. I am so out-of-touch with my SG friends' lives that it's not even funny, but I hope to be caught up with everyone soon. smile

I'm at the Flying J in Whiteland, Indiana tonight. It's at exit 95 on I-65 just south of Indianapolis. Not the one right ON the loop. Anyhow, I stop at J's probably 80% of the time while I'm out here on the road. We get a better fuel discount here and I tend to like most things about them except the fickle quality of their WiFi service. Anyhow, I've been to this one (as well as the one east of Indy in Spiceland) a million times. There were two different parties of Amish eating at the restaurant when I came in for dinner. It isn't exactly the same as seeing them in their "native environment", perhaps. Especially considering the fact that they were sitting right under the television AND left in a van (not a horse and buggy). Heh.

I'm contemplating something along these lines.

I actually already own a decent Gary Fisher mountain bike that hasn't gotten any use at all in about three years. Had it in storage... and I may actually break it out and get it tuned and hopefully use it now and then when I'm home. But to be honest, I don't really want to occupy that much space in my truck. I've already got a storage bin occupying most of my passenger seat room. I'm sure I could make some re-arrangements but the idea of something easily portable or foldable is very appealing.

I'd need to delay my intended new revolver purchase, but frankly a bicycle would be better for my health anyhow.
