I was told by someone who sounded like she knew she was talking about that I should make at least one journal entry. I can't remember why, exactly.

I'm a newswire contributor, a sort of writer and a kind of musician.

My weblog is Dr. Frank's What's-it.

My band has quite a few records out and has been around for a while.

I've got a Young Adult Novel called King Dork coming out in Spring 2006.

Yep, like what everyone else said, even if we already read your blog, a little tiny bit of a journal here just gives people a chance to say hello and things. Which I guess you could construe as good or bad, depending on how much you want to put up with everyone.

So all that said: hi! Your articles this past week have been wonderful, and on a similar note I'm quite looking forward to King Dork. In general, thanks for bein' here.

Frank, you're so damn modest. When are you going to be in Portland again? I need to buy you another beer.

Thanks, folks.

Michael, I'm planning on doing some shows as soon as I get all this "literary" stuff sorted. There's going to be a best of comp. at the beginning of the year and, I hope, a studio album shortly thereafter. So we'll definitely be doing some touring for that, and I'll definitely take you up on that beer offer.

According to a reliable source you are an amazing person, so I thought I would just pop in and say hello.

Amazing people aren't that common, after all.

Alukh, some people are easily amazed. ;-) Thanks for popping in.

Throatneedle:

"do you remember our prozac conversation at cheers?"

would make a great title for something or other.

(I don't, as it happens...)

I had this feeling it was you when I saw an article posted by you a few days back but didn't think much of it till I decided to pry further. Not to sound like a gushing fanboy, but I love your band. One of my absolute favorites. Last time I saw you guys was when you played the Fireside Bowl in chicago a a year ago (MTX).
Wow I just don't know what else to say other then I can't wait till your book comes out. Much luck to you in the future my good man, and thanks for making some of the best music I've ever heard. biggrin

Heh. Now the masses can flood your journal with enthusiastic comments. Here's mine - you probably don't remember me, but we met when you played a show in Portland, Oregon, about a year ago. It was at the Meow-Meow, and the club had just moved, so nobody could find the show. My boyfriend (somelameo) and I stood around helplessly at the old address and luckily a random passerby knew the new address. We ambled over and found... you! We chatted, you shared some fine (i believe it was) scotch from your flask, and then entrusted us with taping a sign up at the old location so that people could find the show. and you guys played a kickass set, albeit to a rather small crowd, and a good time was had all around.
Incidentally, I also should thank you for all the great links in your blog - Veiled Conceit, for one, is now a steadfast bookmark.
Anyway, welcome to sg, and thanks for making the music news worth reading.
And if you ever come to Chicago, the scotch is on me this time.
