I certainly suck at updating my journal here. I guess I'm not good at ranting or expressing my feelings, and a lot of day to day stuff seems too trivial for a hip group like this. I don't think anyone wants to hear about my Mechwarrior clickbase tournament results. Anyone else play it?
Saw Sky Captain today and liked it very much. Classic sci-fi look and some sharp byplay and dialoge between the stars. Highly recommended.

Back from the San Diego Comic Con, where I had a great time. I met friends from companies, who missed me the last few years I coudln't make it, and met completely at randomw, a friend I'd lost touch with some years back... he recognized my hat. I geeked out completely and no one noticed.
The coolest thing of many was the panel for the Firefly movie Serenity, where Joss Whedon brought out all nine of the crew cast for questions! The footage they had looks great. The preview for Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow is also stunningly good, though there were more questions from fangirls to Jude Law about how great he was than film and setting questions. I can't fault enthusiasm that much.
I bought lots of comics (smutty and non), some toys and commissioned a few naughty sketches from pro artists... a LOT of comic artists like to get the material they can never draw in US publications out in some form.
It was a series of very long days, but the whole con seemed to fly by in that odd way.
I did feel an urge to socialize more, to be wild and go to a club as I was walking through the very vibrant and busy Gaslamp district at night, but couldn't quite. And there will have to be more coordination among SG people next year... I'd love to meet some people in person!

Looks like I've been slacking heavily on the journal thing. javascript:insertSmilie('

I've been working hard at two jobs, same as usual. Got caught in the dust storm you may have seen on the news Monday while riding my bike, then the rainstorm after. While wearing a brand new shirt. I was still scraping dust off my stuff days later.
I dd get my confirmation for the San Diego Comic-Con registration though, after fearing I wasn't pre-registered due to faxing it in at the next-to-last possible moment.
Discovering the groups here was a plus, and has lead to some new friends, and the possiblity of attending a local get-together.
Hmmm.. rambling a lot today.

Got back from working at Anime Expo last night. It was so busy I didn't have time to actually watch any anime or leave the table to shop for more than 20 minutes at a time.
Lots of people in costume, some bold and sexy like a Felicia from Darkstalkers in a body stocking with bits of fur glued to it, or Chocolate from Sorcerer Hunters in a latex thong.
Some sad things though, like seeing people carrying around signs saying "Kiss (character they're dressed as) $1.00. And there was the usual handful of men inappropriately cross-dressing. What possesses them to do that? "I'm a big, fat hairy man and I want to wear a tiny bikini or schoolgirl uniform and get in everyone's face!" Bleh.
I was too busy selling things to feel lonely in a crowd full of like-minded people, or too tired after the fact. Maybe I'll save that for the Comic-Con in a few weeks.

Not the best day today. My e-mail account hasn't been working, saying the mailbox is full no matter how much I delete from it, this after a Lycos "Upgrade." I reset the browser and lost all my passwords as they recommended.
Unfortunately, I lost the password for this site, and with any e-mails being sent to my address bouncing, I had no way to get it again.
That pisses me off, being in a bind like that, with the situation out of control. Is it too much to ask for a service to provide decent service? Apparently so.
Also, I need to buy a swimsuit, since I'll have the chance to swim at the beach and hotel pools on various upcoming business and pleasure trips. I haven't owned one in years, or needed to.
Any fashion tips as to what looks good on a pale, less-than-cut body? I'm not sure I should go for the speedo look.

A day off today. Went to the library, came back with 2 Ben Bova novels, Venus and Jupiter. I know I've watched too much Sailor Moon when the first image that comes to mind on hearing a planet name alone is the Senshi that corresponds with it.
Also getting ready to go to Anime Expo. Am I the only person who can feel loney in a crowd full of like-minded people?

I've never done a blog or LJ before and don't consider myself that alternative, so I was a bit hesitant to do this. My friends egged me on, saying that I'm alternative in attiude if not in dress, so I went for it. My favorites are much more diverse than I've listed... I keep thinking of ones I've overlooked. I hope to expand my horizions and meet interesting new people here!
