Wow, I didn't realize it's been a month since I posted something. I've been so busy running around like a nutbag that I lost touch of how many days there are in a week!
Let's see... I lost my god damn phone today. I always fantasize the cell phone free life, but this timing sucks balls since I finally got some good leads for work and need to make/expecting important calls. FML
So, I'm not quitting the tattoo apprenticeship after all. I knew it was going to be hard and the idea of quitting wasn't even gonna be an option, but I think the mistake I made was overestimating my perseverance. Perseverance over being talked to like a moron, putting up with sexist attitudes, not knowing what the fuck is going on, getting yelled at for fucking up because nobody ever told me what I'm supposed to do, etc.
But I guess that's the objective; for my ego and dignity to get stripped to zero, so I can learn to be stronger, more patient, and have a thicker skin. At least that is my perception, or perhaps a justification I give to this situation. I don't know. Any apprentice out there wanna lend me their opinion? (Since I can't join the "Apprentice" group for some reason.)
Anyway, frustrations aside, I also got some positive things going, got a job painting a mural for a Middle Eastern restaurant, which is gonna be one of the biggest challenges to date since it's a 53 ft wall and I've only done this once in my life. A friend who is a bartender is training me how to work the bar, so I can start looking for a job as a bartender. Met one of my neighbors, who will give me jobs doing transcriptions for his company. Also, been meeting random people that could need me to do some freelance work in the future.
Life is fuckin' crazy. I'm using my best judgement taking in all the lessons that are being thrown at me. I think I'm doing pretty good considering that I do feel like I'm growing each day getting through the tasks and emotional "humps" at hands. And mostly learning about who I am, or rather, learning how to be who I am against the world.
Last but not least, my hair was red for a minute.

"Blue Veins" - The Raconteurs
When I was surrounded by the world
You were the only one who came
And you were the only one astounded
Which kept me grounded
As the other girls trashed my very name
Then I looked over
Just in time to see you smiling back at me
And saying everything's OK
As long as you're inside my blue veins
Your blue veins
Yeah and the feeling that you gave me
No matter what I do or where I go
It always will remain
And those who would enslave me to get to me must get past you and will have no luck
Cause you'll protect me from all pain
The most beautiful, yeah the most beautiful thing cause anything else can't compare
Must be the blood that's running through your blue veins
Your blue veins
Your blue veins
And I know you won't deceive me
Like the rest and there's nothing you need to explain
You always were the first one to believe me
When I said to you girl
I think it's gonna rain
But I could be wrong
Yeah but all of these things
All these things
They're all truly nice but ain't nothing
Ain't nothing compared to the love that's running through your little blue veins
Your blue veins
When I was surrounded by the world
You were the only one who came
And you were the only one astounded
Which kept me grounded
As the other girls trashed my very name
Then I looked over
Just in time to see you smiling back at me

Updates on what I've been up to.
On Sunday 20th, there was a historic demonstration at the Oakland port to boycott Israeli cargo ship as a response to their recent massacre on the freedom flotilla. We were able to shut down the dock for the day and it was truly victorious!!

The apprenticeship is proving to be a bit of a challenge. I'm making peace with the fact that I'm the shop bitch and supposed to take shit from everyone. But it's all a part of the game! Here's my last assignment, I had to saw a bike off a post because it was stuck in front of the shop for weeks. Then the next morning it turned up on the street sign. Pretty funny.

Last but not least, a new tattoo!! I finally got my goddess Saraswati tattoo by Ian Oliver, the tattooer I'm apprenticing with. 9 hour session, man. It was hell but oh so worth it!! (better pictures coming soon)

Whoo! Busy, busy, busy! Just wanted to share this article I came across of an amazing collage artist real quick.
Joseph Wood

Joseph Wood

This song warms my heart.
He came dancing across the water
With his galleons and guns
Looking for the new world
And the palace in the sun.
On the shore lay Montezuma
With his coca leaves and pearls
In his halls he often wandered
With the secrets of the worlds.
And his subjects gathered 'round him
Like the leaves around a tree
In their clothes of many colors
For the angry gods to see.
And the women all were beautiful
And the men stood straight and strong
They offered life in sacrifice
So that others could go on.
Hate was just a legend,
War was never known.
People worked together
And they lifted many stones.
Then they carried them to the flatlands
But they died along the way
Then they built up with their bare hands
What we still can't do today.
And I know she's living there
And she loves me to this day
I still can't remember where
Or how I lost my way.
He came dancing across the water
Cortez, Cortez
What a killer.
He came dancing across the water
With his galleons and guns
Looking for the new world
And the palace in the sun.

In case you haven't heard, they're breaking up and this is going to be the last tour! Boy, am I happy to have gotten the tickets before they're sold out.
I haven't been to a good show in a while. It's gonna rule.
