This week, I was notified by the Canadian Forces that my file isn't expired or terminated and that I'm still on the waiting list! WTF!? I thought I blew my chance all the way back in Octobre, hence me being in Chile. But no! I somehow have an interview next friday. They didn't know I was out of the country so now I'm doing an interview to be in the air force on Friday. I'm not in yet, but my chances are pretty good so I hope I get in. They've been dicking around with my file for a year now it's time they got their shit straight, in or out! If I'm in, I'm going back to Canada but don't even have to go back to my shitty hometown and I would be traveling around the world constantly! Epic win!
What careeer would you choose? Continue in education and start a new one in aviation? Education vs. aviation...decisions decisions.
We are on SG, SG is on the internet (if you haven't figured that one out yet) and therefore dosen't have the option of letting me say something face to face which would probably wouldn't sound as bad.
I wish I was back in Oz, at least there they understand this more than the other "white man's countries". If you're a dick down there your race, social class etc. dosen't matter. You're still a dick and you'll be notified without people going "oh he's yellow red purple martian etc. so you can't say anything".
Oh I'm sorry does that offend you? "White man's country?"
I'm in Chile, flaite or other Chilenos for that matter, don't have any difficulties calling me a stupid tourista gringo and I don't have any difficulties calling them a fuckin' Chilean weon weon.
Oh, sorry if I've offended you again.
This article is the closest thing that relates to what I'm talking about. I remember when this came out a while ago about prince Harry's "racial" mishap...
In January 2009, the British tabloid News of the World revealed a video made by Harry three years previously, in which he referred to a Pakistani fellow officer cadet as "our little Paki friend" and later called a soldier wearing a cloth on his head a "raghead". These terms were described by David Cameron as "unacceptable",[43] and by The Daily Telegraph as "racist",[43] and a British Muslim youth organisation called the Prince a "thug",[44] a statement that was later retracted.[45] Clarence House immediately issued an apology from Harry, who stated that no malice was intended in his remarks.[46] While the cadet's father refused to accept Harry's apology,[47] a former British MP and Royal Marine, Rod Richards, said that such nicknames were common amongst military comrades, stating "in the Armed Forces people often used to call me Taffy. Others were called Yankie, Oz or Kiwi or whatever. I consider Paki as an abbreviation for Pakistani. I don't think on this occasion it was intended to be offensive."[48] It later emerged that Prince Harry had personally apologized to the soldie

Also, this video can sum up SOME of my feelings on the subject. Pat Condell says it beautifully.

Food for thought...
Here it's weird. Just earlier tonight, some guy at my residence did not know what Canada was. I was in the kitchen and he asked me where I was from. He had a very slight idea but he was well aware of what the US was. He sort of knew slightly what Canada was and had no clue what French Canadians were (99% of the world dosen't). I sort of like it when people I meet don't know anything about my land. I feel more useful than all those embassadors combined since I can actually sit down and have a beer with all those people from everywhere and tell them stories of how shit goes down in the Great White North. Just yesterday, a co-worker invited me to his house to have diner with his family. He's an old retired Chile army officer who speaks perfect English and wanted me to meet his family. I met everybody and had to explain from scratch where I was from and who I was and how to pronouce and say my name correctly (it's a pain in the ass if you don't speak French). It was great!! Although, I especially feel bad since I've never been to the West Coast, only Ontario, Québec, New-Brunswick and Nova Scotia. I dig shit East Coast.
Whenever I'm away, I listen to Stan Rogers or his kid (Nate) and it almost (it does most of the time) brings a tear to my eye. I miss home but I don't at the same time. I'm driven by this insane urge to go places even if that means I have to die young without ever having kids or seeing my family ever again. Mind you that I don't want this to happen but this is what my gut tells me. I always feel the need to ruin myself financially, physically and emotionally. Maybe I should stop listening to it.
Here's a little home sick yet feel good music...

Like I said,,,pictures from Chile withCianuro and other stuff in between Santiago and Antofagasta. I got a pot belly now that I'm slowly getting rid of here.
I can't find my USB cable to upload pictures but as soon as I find it I'll post 'em. I had this pretty insane case of "pulgas" alergies from my hostel in Santiago but there are none here in Antofa. The best part was when I met and went to diner with my favourite, and cutest, and coolest (she insists on that) and BITE SIZE (wink wink
My residence here in antofa is next to a third world flat but I got WiFi for some odd reason. You won't imagine the filth at this place. Anywho, I'm not complaining, it's better than to be at home doing fuckall.
Santiago is hot as hell right now and I'm looking obviously like a gringo for being white as a ghost and sweating like a pig. But other then that Santi is crazy! It's big and busy and the people are very nice.
I spent NYE on O'Higgins where they had this big NYE concert. It was pretty much me and a million Chilenos. It was nice, I drank with a few Chilenos (mostly Chilenas) who spoke fairly good English and could understand my shitty Spanish. Now I just need to find where the good bars are at - the ones that play metal and stuff like that - and music stores. Everything's closed today but tomorrow life starts again in Santiago.
The school that hired me put me in this bed and breakfast next to Santa Lucia station and it's great. We got Kiwis and Germans staying!
TO THE FEW THAT I'VE SPOKEN TO ON HERE FROM SANTIAGO HIT ME UP! I'M ONLY HERE FOR A WEEK BEFORE THEY SHIP ME OFF TO MY PERMANENT LOCATION SO LET'S MAKE THE MOST OF IT AND PARTY!
CHILE! LATINAS! BEER! FOOD! MUSIC! LIFE!
lookin' forward to life!
I start training on January 4th in Santiago but I'm posted in either Antofagasta or Concepcion. I can choose between the two but can't seem to be able to. Can any of you Chilenos or Chilenas help me out in choosing? Has anyone been to those cities. They both look great.
Here's a lil' somin' somin' from my drunken holidays.
