Dear Suicidegirls Zell and I whipped something up for you all just in time for the season, so yes in a few weeks you'll see "Summer, Summertime" in member review
thanks for the love on Rambo's urban prowler set, 99% 1000+ comments wow!
So I always say i'm going to write a "real" blog and I figure since I don't have much going on today I think now is a better time than anyway...
Heres the bottom line, i've outgrown San Jose and I need to get out of this city because I feel there's really nothing here for me. I'm not a tech-head which is what this area is known for, not so much photography, fashion etc...I don't want to just shoot corporate head shots, edit kid or pet photos, or weddings and thats all there really is around here. Sometimes I just think I might need to find something else and just keep photography as an aggressive hobby but regardless I GOT to get out of San Jose. I just don't really know whats the right move for me
here are my options
San Francisco - It wouldn't be too far away from friends and family and a good chunk of my friends already live up there and it would make shooting a lot easier for me to do for the SF and Oakland girls and I'd be living in a super nice apartment for a really damn good price but is there enough photo work in my field in San Francisco? Do I like San Francisco enough to live in it? I love parts of it but it's a big city and photo opportunity jobs there are better for sure but there might not be enough..
Los Angeles - I don't really care for LA all that much as a city but I'll admit it does have some really rad things in it and maybe if I spent the right time in the right places there I might grow to enjoy it. This is definitely the city I need to be in to pursue a photography career and honestly Id be happy with a job just in the industry and do photography on the side, that way at least my right skills are going to be used in the right places. I do have family down there and can probably make new friends so maybe I could put up with it?
Portugal - I don't know If i can function in a country where I don't speak the native language. I did enjoy my time there last year and do want to go back to visit but I don't really know what else I'd be doing there other than doing something for SG once in awhile and plus when you're not native to europe, it's pretty expensive but maybe it would be good to not live in America for an extended amount of time... America is a good country in many ways, but it's so bad in other ways and basic needs like health care profits are put ahead of the well being of people and everything here is so money oriented, but i've often thought of how if moving out of the country might be a good thing.
Hawaii - i'd basically have to start from the ground up here, I have family here and things in Hawaii are slower paced and the people there are friendly and the weather can be good, and well there are no SGs over there so maybe it would be good to get some presence out there, I just worry I'll get bored of the place
so yeah those are my options.... I need to decide about one of them before this year is up because I need to make changes in my life and getting out of this city would help change everything
Thanks for getting Dice on the front page. She could use some good energy for sure
EEK
JUST CAME OUT TODAY!!! Rambo - Urban Prowler
this set was shot in San Francisco around the Dolores Park neighborhood. It was funny cuz this gay couple was walking their dog right underneath us and saw boobs go down. Later we awkwardly ran into them into the hall because it was also their building.. ah it's the little things that make this job at least a lot more interesting than staring at a cubicle all day. I don't miss that at all..
I didn't plan on shooting with her before shootfest but I managed to squeeze in sometime and I'm glad we did. I actually think she's the very first girl i've shot for this site without any tattoos, not that it's a bad thing at all though. She reminded me of a kitten. I'm not sure about the set name but I was told it had something to do with this
Just submitted last night..Lolana - Soul Meets Body
I really like this set I shot with Rowdi but apparently the general population here doesn't, which is really disappointing but what can you do. I still love it anyway Playing with Fire
DICE! leave this lady some love because she just got hit by a car and could probably use the extra love at the moment... and this is one of my favorite sets
It's been a crazy two weeks and I've finally caught up with enough work to where I actually feel a bit ahead of the game at the moment. I shot 7 sets in the last 2 weeks and have already completed 3 of them so all in all not too shabby I would say... so keep an eye out for some stuff soon.
I really feel I'm in a good place with my photography these days, the full frame of the 5-D is just SO SO SO much better and I'm finally feeling comfortable with all my gear again. I've worked hard to work on photos at a technical and aesthetic level and I do hope that hard work shows... cuz if i'm not good at this, i'm not really good at anything else.. Thanks for getting Saint and Aleon on the front page! both lovely ladies that deserve it!
Portland wasn't what I had expected, lets just say that things didn't go as planned and leave it at that .... it was cold and rainy but despite everything still had a good trip. I was kinda hoping that this trip was the one that would make sense and finally convince me to move up there, but now i'm kinda soured on that idea and after this last weekend I've never felt more at home in The Bay area...
The lovely ms Damsel visited from Ohio and we shot pretty pictures...
of course we shot sets
I have much love for this girl! she's definitely a kindred spirit and i can't wait til she joins us here on the west coast!
SG shootfest was next on the docket, and it was much much better than last year, not only in terms of location but weather and productivity as well!
Sets were shot..
First, one of my fave SO-Cal Girls Ackley. I love hanging out with her, it's always a good time, it's too bad it's only annually.. i think it just means i need to make more trips down south..
also Rlei who is quite the model as well. If she was like a foot taller she'd be on runways..
i got to meet Waikiki as well! It was great to finally get to be around another staff photographer while shooting! she shot many sets as well along with this Damsel and Saint multi
cops were called, accidents were caused, neighbors complained but all in all i'm sure they got a killer set.
For easter we celebrated the only way we know how.. Suicidegirl style (by waikiki, photoshop by me)
I thiiiinkkkk we're going to be selling prints of this soon possibly... so stay tuned... there's some details to work out of course.
Every time I go to a gathering like this i'm reminded about how great my job is and how lucky I am to be associated with such great people... I just wish these things happened more often!
Thanks for helping get Saint on the front page. She was THE FIRST SUICIDEGIRL i ever met, and first one I ever shot as well and it's been a rollercoaster ride (to say the least) since..
PICKING UP Damsel in about 8 hours! I'm pretty sure she's going to be a California girl in the future...
ir's going to be a fun weekend
went to Portland,
shot a set blah blah real update post Shootfest
Also head your way to Rambo's blog and order yourself a print! Once again these prints are LIMITED edition of 25 and last thing she told me was that they were actually going kinda fast so jump in on it, I have a print of it myself on the wall and despite it being a nice young ladies rear end, people love it
it will of course not have the watermarks on it. 8x12, matte print, $25.00 with 5 for shipping 8 for international.
got some cool shoots coming up so stay tuned! thanks again SG land
