Carrina has a new set out, Occam's Razor
If you're not familiar with the theory of 'Occam's Razor'
"Occam's razor, also known as Ockham's razor, and sometimes expressed in Latin as lex parsimoniae (the law of parsimony, economy or succinctness), is a principle that generally recommends that, from among competing hypotheses, selecting the one that makes the fewest new assumptions usually provides the correct one, and that the simplest explanation will be the most plausible until evidence is presented to prove it false."
with all the sets that go around, theme's being done over and over again, or just too much in them.... sometimes a simple set purely is the best,

if you haven't noticed Nahp has done some interviews about some of the staff photographers here on SG! I did the interview a month ago and they're just starting to get posted, so far interviews with, Writeboy, Ivyllamas, and Lavezzaro have been posted so check them out HERE
I'm ramping up to shoot again, I only have 2 sets left to finish from Portland, and am shooting a new set with Saint and Aleon this upcoming weekend, these will be the first sets with my 5dm2
I MISS PORTUGAL

ANYWAY to that one girl in my life that's made a huge difference she doesn't even know it, I'll see you in March which means another trip to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Sets will be limited this time though

First things first, Portland.
Man I love that city. There's just something about it that reinvigorates every aspect of me, I'm not sure if it's the fresh air or just how the city is, but it sure beats San Jose in every way possible..
Highlights of the trip include....

I know you don't want to see my vacation photos.. .what you guys REALLY want to see is some new sets, I'm pleased to say that yes, of course those were done too...

I am please to announce that I'm SUPER excited to be shooting this year, as i have a BRAND NEW CAMERA to kick it off.. I finally ponied up and got a Canon 5dm2, which is FULL FRAME which means there's a whole lot more information in my photos which gives portraits especially a much better feel....
I had been using the Canon 7d for the last year, and while it is a great camera, it is suited for other things a lot better than portraits...
7d = Green Frame
5d = Black Frame
I recently realized that no matter how much I shot with the 7d the pictures didn't feel 'right' to me and I never felt comfortable using it and looking back at my past sets, some of my best ones were shot with my original 5d... SO yeah, Lyxzen was interested in it so whilst in Portland, I sold it to her, and received my 5dm2 in the mail when I got home!
So yeah after this last trip..... I think it is time to migrate north on a permanent status... I'm hoping to move up there in the summer before a friend's wedding up there.... there's tons of beautiful girls up there that would make excellent editions to the site, but no one to really shoot them... also I'd like to spend some more time with a certain girl who takes her name from a certain thieving bird.
SF SHOOT FEST IS COMING UP IN APRIL!!!
Damsel is going to make a trek from Ohio to attend and she's been on my shootlist forever! I think she'll be the first Dreaded girl i'm going to shoot for SG, so that's pretty exciting!
to all the girls that have written me, I'm still trying to figure out my schedule.. I know i have 2 slots confirmed already as for the other 2, I'm still trying to figure that out... Also there might be 2 pickup sets that I do which will be decided on the day of the shootfest... but for more details there is a thread in the SG NETWORK group and also the SG lounge so if you're not aware of the shootfest, then maybe you should be!
Saint is hosting it in this killer location and i'm excited to break it in for shooting in the next few weeks or so!

oh girls, just a little tip from your friendly photographer..
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE YOURSELF BANGS 10 minutes before the shoot! you' be surprised how much this has happened to me, and somehow bangs become quite the preoccupation when shooting because they're not used to it. Thanks!

simpler explanations are, other things being equal, generally better than more complex ones
Carrina - Occam's Razor - queued for February. I finally feel like i'm back on the right path with a set like this.

So i've been thinking about a new project and I think i'm gonna do some tests of it this weekend... Both of the elements are into place it's just about how to present them.. you'll just have to wait and see. I will tell you though the theme isn't exactly original but I haven't seen any other projects combined into one concise place...

It's almost time for Portland, and I know it'll be cold but the calling of pacific northwest is just too much. The food carts, the kitschy stores, the simpsons named street signs, the coffee, the beautiful nature, the no sales tax, the beautiful sgs up there, and the option of a beautiful new years eve date (at least i think is happening still) is just too much and Christmas CANNOT pass soon enough. I wish I was in a place in my life where i could appreciate Christmas.. I think a primary reason for having it is because people can get so depressed when it comes to the weather so there needs to be a time to celebrate for SOMETHING... I just hate how its so commercial and you can't escape it. And yes, seeing how companies COUNT on x-mas sales to make or break fiscal year, i'd say it is pretty damn commercial.
Have you heard the new Black Keys album? it's amazing!
I'm at a point in my life where i need to make some serious changes, and if they don't happen soon I'm not sure what my mental state will be a year from now. The main problem I have is not knowing what I have to do, it's getting the motivation and the commitment to make these changes. It's really hard to break habits because I've been doing them for so long and the only real roadblock myself but it's also important for me NOT to blame myself because it get's nowhere. All I can do is put forth the motivation and KEEP AT IT no matter what happens. Sticking with it has proven results but I always seem to have a 'i can get to it later' and later never really comes. I'm fed up with all that jazz..

I'm traveling to Portland for new years to see and shoot with all the lovely PDX ladies.. unfortunately most of the days are already booked so I'm not sure if I can take any extra shoots than the ladies i've already talked to but time will tell...
end of the week I'll be shooting with the lovely Trinidad again.
