Just found out last week I'll be teaching at National Defense University in D.C.! Beautiful campus right on the Potomac:

Another three to four years in the D.C. area is what I've been hoping for and it looks like it's a done deal. The bonus is I get to hang out with researchers and professor types that come up with ideas like this:

Watch Out For Terrorists In Your MMO

So maybe I'll get to play Warcraft all day and track terrorists biggrin

Well by now everyone probably has heard someone took a few shots at the Pentagon from I395. It's just luck that no one was in that part of the building and wasn't scheduled to move in for a few weeks. The really bothersome part is my organization's new offices are directly across the hall from the area of the building that was hit. I was walking down to those offices this morning before anyone knew what was happening and the area had been declared a crime scene. surreal

Interesting way to start the morning.

Things I see on my walk to work

There's this person who periodically draws hard core gay porn and tapes it in the free newspaper vedding window. Whoever it is really does take their time and gets very detailed.

Tried to get the monument in the picture also. The other thing is you really can't get too close now with any kind of camera without a lot of people freaking out. There's been a lot of changes at the metro entrance since the shooting. The Pentagon metro entrance has a two tiered bus stop that's patrolled by armed security now.

Last week the wife pulled an amazing U-turn into a spot in Georgetown and I had to take a picture. She was just barely in the lines and the meter maid was pissed mad Yay for Mini Coopers biggrin If you're wondering that's right outside Red Velvet Cupcake, which turned out to be a dissapointment. It sucks that Georgetown Cupcakes now has a 3 hour line to get into the f'ing store. Before the show the people who worked there knew you by name and you could sit inside! I suppose there's something to be said for making tons of cash, but I miss how it used to be. frown

Finally decided to become active again on the site after many months away. Actually really might as well have been three years away. Hell at least this will give me some kind of outlet besides reading while commuting from Fredericksburg to Arlington.smile

Well I went to the Tegan and Sarah concert in Ritchmond, VA. Sorry no pics. I've become lazy as hell lately and need to step it upsmile Sat behind Steel Train's keyboardists dad (opening act and phenominal btw). The National is a great venue and much better than the 9:30 club in DC.
Tegan and Sarah were phenominal as allways. Their personalities really come through when they perform live. You just don't get how genuinely creative, funny and talented they both are from listening to a CD. Of course their fan base came out in force. I just hope it doesn't pigeon hole or limit them into a lesbian band. They're just talented musicians that rock period!

It's snowing...again. I swear someone plans it so all the carp weather happens on the weekend and clears up just in time for Monday.

Argh,

Just decided to get involved in the site again and noticed my last entry was in 2008. Just horrible biggrin. A lot, and I do mean a lot has changed since then and mostly for the better. Bought a house, job is interesting and I'm finally getting around to paint and unpack from the move. Here's to an awesome 2010 for everyone.
