into: Hello, My name's Matthew and I would define myself as somewhat of a nerd/geek/handyman (I'm into freecycle and constantly rescuing discarded items, repairing things, and finding good homes for misfit electronics)... I hate seeing perfectly good things thrown into a landfill. Yes I do occasionally play video games (but It's mainly when I'm working out on my treadmill... yes I am fairly coordinated. I've been working out a lot and converted one of the rooms in my house into a gym) and I'm constantly fixing my friends computers (this happens a lot). I also enjoy cooking sans cookbooks to see what I can randomly create with random spices , having random get togethers, gardening, and riding my bike along the levee. I'm a dog person, and like cats too but I don't have any. I have a passion for music and have worked in pretty much every music store in Baton Rouge and have gained a pretty varying taste for different types of music.... except mainstream Country and Hardcore Gangster Rap. I used to work for a label and have some fairly interesting stories to share too. Some of the artists/bands I have on heavy rotation on Itunes are Radiohead, Dresden Dolls, Mars Volta, Ani Difranco, John Coltrane, Kent (underestimated swedish band... if you like Sigur Ros you may want to check them out), Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Death Cab, Whiskeytown, Gorillaz, Garbage, Reverend Horton Heat, OLD Smashing Pumpkins (D'arcy and James Iha did make a difference), Anthrax.... I could literally type this list for hours (see favorites for more of the artists I'm into) One of my favorite things to do is recommend new music to friends. I don't hunt, fish, and I can't quote sports statistics (I did have a fantasy football team... but my record 4 wins out of an entire season so that should tell you something). I occasionally watch football (Only the Saints and LSU), but I normally have no idea who the people on the field are or how many passing and rushing yards they have. I like camping, but haven't been in several years and definitely want to start going again. I wouldn't mind fishing, but the last time I went was with my grandfather when I was 10 and I caught a hornets nest.... we gave up and went for donuts. I definitely feel like I'm at home when I walk through the doors at NOMA, and completely out of my element at a sports bar.... coffee shops (like Z'otz and Perks) & lower Decatur dive bars are more my scene. On the subject of religion I have no problem with faith, but I have issues with the way "organized" religion conducts itself. I fully respect someone’s choice to believe in something, but no one should force their beliefs on to someone else.
