* Good news: Got the job.
* Bad news: Obscenely high rate of tax on second income.

Don't quite know what I am going to do...I don't know if I can afford to work this second job (!!!) After tax, I will effectively be working for a crapola $9 per hour.

* Went and saw Eddie and Esmerelda. Eddie didn't want to snuggle with me. He just wanted to hop back in his prison and vomit into Esmerelda's mouth. And she's horrible to him!! Bites and hisses at him constantly!!
Did I mention they're parrots? biggrin I love parrots.

* Day of the VW on the 25th at Wrigley Reserve!! Can't wait!! Sellers and enthusiasts!!

Guess who?

* Why is it that I can sew an entire skirt, yet get a simple buttonhole so badly wrong?

Joan Collins. Looking extremely hot.

Have accepted the job. Tax consequences may not be so dire as first thought. Plus, they aren't offering many hours anyways...so fingers crossed.

1. The difference on the tax comes back at the end of the year, and is usually calculated on gross income less deductible expenses (for example, you can usually claim the cost of travelling between jobs, but not the cost of travelling from home to job or job to home - check with the ATO). In effect, it's like a forced savings plan.

2. Depending on the work, you may be able to take it as a 'consultant' or 'contractor' - particularly if it is casual and with a small(er) private company. In this case you will have to look after the tax side of things, along with SGL, holiday pay (usually n/a if you're a casual anyway), sick leave (usually n/a if you're a casual anyway), etc.

If you're working for the public service, a reasonable size corporate or you're perm. part time, you're probably screwed.

There are a few other things, but yeah, it's not all bad.

Just read your 'Not Into'. Yeah, I hate those fundamentalist/extremist liberalists. Bloody pansies. eeek

Is it Angela Lansbury?

It was such a beautiful day yesterday. I haven't flown for over 18 years so it was kind of a big deal for me, I was amazed to find I wasn't scared at all. I loved it! But then, I'm not afraid of flying as such but of confined spaces and helicopters are very open.

Thanks...It worked out really well. I was worried she would baulk at getting in.
