I simply think that they are all crazy. Enjoy the relative "shelter" of the college. You aren't dealing withy nutty politicians in person. Ditto for crazy ladies and the folks who get mad when the weekend staff leaves an obit off the page or messes up a press release.

just wanted to let you know i adore your screenname. i almost picked a character from "haunted" as mine as well.

There is no logic, thought process or common sense behind what a lot of people do. It makes me jealous of big city newspapers that have security guards.
