It appears that I'm going to see Van Halen at the Staples Center. I had to put off the Spring Break trip, and now I'm going to LA in May. Guess I could go see my dad and still go there in March, but sometimes we don't get along very well, so probably not. Dunno how this will impact my going to Vegas. It probably won't, but I'm nervous/on the fence about going to Vegas anyway.
Please Mr. Van Halen, none of this!
WTF!
Brilliant!

Well, I don't have anything much to say. The guitar playing has gotten a lot better over the past week, and I haven't even been practicing that much. My playing started improving once I switched to gauge 9 strings.
There were a lot players who used 10 gauge and they'd tell me to use those. So for years I used 10s and didn't really improve at all. The strings were way too tense; my fingers couldn't handle it. These other guitarists would say that 9s sounded thin and just icky.
I've been playing them for the past year or so, and they did sound thin when I first switched. But now that my fingers have adapted, they sound really good. The difference in playability was like night and day. Some people said it wouldn't make much of a difference, but for me it has made all the difference.
I started practicing trills everyday soon after that. In the space of a couple days, my trills have gone from barely sounding out, to really resonant. The guitar I'm using sounds kind of thin, but there is major improvement nonetheless.
All of this leads me to believe that you really only need two exercises to play the guitar well: Tremelo-picking and trilling. If you have weak fingers, trilling is the best excercise. If you want to improve your picking, tremelo-picking is the most logical thing to do.
I'm not where I want to be musically, but my control has improved more in past few days than in the years that I was using the heavier strings. I only wish someone would have given me good advice back then.
So now I'm working on:
Really like the ominous intro and the way he conveys the idea lyrically.
You should buy Curve's Pubic Fruit album. This is one of the most erotic songs I've ever heard.
Crush me with your ice pick
I am the queen
I've come to take the sweetness
and keep you down in my cave
The tone of her voice is oh-so-sexy on this little bit.
They have a lot of songs which sound similar, but I love them.
... is the SEX!
Another ominous one. My favorite Nine Inch Nails song, along with the segue into Something I Can Never Have.
Well, I have nothing much else to say, so ... have a good night!
Pretty boring around here.

Their music is so erotic.
You should listen to all of these and more.
They're too good not to be listened to.
