Okay I have really been thinking since my friends wedding. The more I think the more I want to go back to college for photography I know I am not the highly trained as some off the SG photographers but I could be some day. I am just going to toss up some of my work let me know if you think I may do good in it. zoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom image

Absolutely! smile You've got a good eye, and that's the part that is hardest to learn (more a talent than a skill). The rest you can learn. And you may or may not want to get "formal" training in it. Certainly there is a lot of good about that training, but by far the best teacher is experiene. If you want to learn how to shoot well, you should plan on taking several tens of thousands of shots a year. No joke! The nice thing about digital is you can easily afford to do that.

Don't just take the shots, though -- study them. See what works and what doesn't. Know what you did differently in the different shots so that when you review them you can understand what was different in your setup and then learn why it produced the effect it did (good or bad). The EXIF inormation stored with a digital image is great for recording camera settings. You might want to keep a notebook, too, to record things like lighting setups and such. Sometimes it's good to get a wide image showing your setup -- providing documentation for how you got the results.

Having a good insructor will make this more efficient -- someone who can review results with you, and who can offer suggestions for how to overcome specific problems -- that's the advantage of formal training. But nothing beats gettin in there and shooting shooting shooting! Just plan on spending a lot of hours reviewing your shots and learning from them. Remember, too, you can learn at least as much from your "failures" as your "successes". When you're learning, there are no "failures" -- just experiments you may not want to make public. smile

Thanks Tubaart that really helps. I do take lots of pictures not near as many as I did because of my job and what not ut 1-2 thousand a month is what I used to do I took many of my friends wedding and am trying to edit all of them so I can send them to her and that is taking up most of my free time. I am much better then when I started here i one of my early pics and this is pretty much all I was doing.zoom imageMore basic and not as well defined.
