I'd really rather not hate Orson Scott Card, but damn he is becoming quite contemptible in his calls for revolution based on opposition to gay marriage.

The Dark Knight was absolutely amazing. It is such a fucking shame Heath Ledger is dead. He did an amazing job.

Things are better, but a trip to Disney World will do that. It wasn't good for me keeping up with my school work, but I'll live and it was completely worth it.
Magic Kingdom is ok, but as Epcot is my favorite park by far. Call me a nerd. I loved The Land, a ride where they talk about the research into farming they are doing there (ie Tomato Tree that lived for 16 months and bore 32,000 tomatoes or the 9lb lemon!) and research they are funding around the world (salt water farming in desert environments near the coast in the middle east!). I also like eating around the world there.
Got to go with my wife and our girlfriend, so it was an amazingly good time. biggrin

Summer semester is kicking my ass a little bit. I'm finally in my upper level classes and I'm really having to adjust to a new way of writing. Writing social work papers and article reviews are quite different than history papers, it turns out. Ah well, it isn't too hard, it is just a lot of work, a lot of transition, in a very short amount of time. The good news? July 3rd-August 20something, I am completely free.

Sometimes the ugliness of the world seems to infect me especially when I get down into it to try and help people. Lately I haven't been much of a nice person except to a certain few. At least this semester is over and I pulled a 4.0 out of it.

It is funny, but i think that through volunteering and helping people out, I have become much more...aggressive and violent about people. Specifically people who mistreat others. I support the death penalty for rapists and for child molesters. Sometimes I get SO fucking angry and frustrated, it is hard to hold it in...but the kids I work with make it worthwhile. To see them regaining some sense of normalcy...it means a lot.

I hope I can keep doing this as it is what I want to do with my life, but really it is driving me a little bit nuts.

So evidently McCain's solution to the housing crisis is to meet with the fuckheads who caused it in the first place and see what they want to do about it. He won't play election year politics, he'll just keep things the way they are. His plan is not a plan, it is listening to other people tell him what to do.

Also, I'd really like a president who can speak properly and naturally. At least McCain doesn't need things spelled out phonetically...he just needs a large flat screen monitor and two teleprompters to make it seem more...human.

So evidently all that video was really old and I was only just exposed to it somehow. Early Saturday mornings are not the time to go posting, I suppose.

Last night was a hell of a lot of fun, got a few people together and made dinner, just hung out and talked. Haven't done something simple like that in quite awhile.

Watch Hillary Clinton dodge sniper fire when she arrived in Bosnia

Good morning. I want to thank Secretary West for his years of service, not only as Secretary of the Army, but also to the Veteran's Administration, to our men and women in uniform, to our country. I certainly do remember that trip to Bosnia, and as Togo said, there was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn't go, so send the First Lady. That's where we went.

I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base. But it was a moment of great pride for me to visit our troops, not only in our main base as Tuzla, but also at two outposts where they were serving in so many capacities to deactivate and remove landmines, to hunt and seek out those who had not complied with the Dayton Accords and put down their arms, and to build relationships with the people that might lead to a peace for them and their children.
