How old is too old to enlist? I figure alot of the members are Pacifists to whom the answer is, "any age," but from perusing the chat rooms I'm betting that more than a few here know people who have enlisted and would have a more intimate opinion on the subject. Siblings, Friends, Lovers.

Believe it or not, I'm still eligible to join and I'm considering it. Every time I go into a recruiting office I get heads bobb'n say'n, "YES, you go man!" I love the support, but it does make me feel, well, my age.

I've already passed the background check (yes, I'm kinda boring ) and taken the exam which I passed with flying colors. "Why now," you ask? Well, I'll give you three guesses and it ain't got noth'n to with how indespensible I am to my country. Though that's a nice thought.

I did grow up in a military family, so I'm no stranger to protocol, though I am a little rusty on discipline. So I wonder if I can hack it. Combat ain't, "bean-bag," as they used to say. Always more the bookish-type than athletic, though I'm in reasonably good shape despite some bad habits. Gotta love those genes. (Thanks Mom!)

Anyway, since I'm weighing the pros and cons and throw'n 'em around in my head, I figured, who knows, maybe someone out there has some opinions they might share. Or someone you know.

Happy 4th everyone.

All right, well, since no one is going to read this anyway, I might as well look like something's on my mind. Got a job with the Census Bureau. It took long enough. Applied in December. Glad to have gotten it. It's good money ($17), but we should be finished no later than June. Disappointing. And they want us to work faster. Yeah, sure, no problem. Anyone know where all the jobs went? I only need one, really.

But seriously. Without any particular specialization, where are you guys looking?
