Well, apparently someone wanted me back here. I've been reactivated.

My life has changed quite a lot in the last year and a half; maybe I'll manage to update this with some of those details soon.

I haven't posted since April. And this isn't really a post

But my convocation went well.

The job hunt is still on. If anyone has a lead on a job that will pay me well, allow me to leave at 3:30 every Wednesday, and allow me to leave for a week in January and another one in May, let me know. Preferably a non-crappy job.

Still writing the paper of the previous post. Nearly done, though.

I think the ctrl button should be below the spacebar.

Tizzurkey weekend!

The K in Philip K Dick stands for Kindred.

I totally want to name one of my kids Kindred now.

So I'm in the Rutherford library, taking a swift break from the research for the very last paper I'll ever write for my undergrad degree (which, incidentally, is also probably the last chance I have to screw up getting the undergrad degree: if I just don't write it, I can fail the class extend my degree by another semester! Wow!)) to visit sg and chat on msn a bit. However, my mom just called me to see if I wanted a ride home, so I'm going to go gather some books and head out.

I am very excited to get this paper (and thus, my degree) the hell out of my way and get on with my life.

So I hate to supplant that post, but

My friend Jackie dyed my hair. I think this is my new favourite picture of myself ever.

Spoilered for a bunch of images.

So I just burned myself a new CD... I was making a mix for someone else but it sort of stopped being the one I intended to make for her. So, I'm going to burn her a copy to go with the one I do make for her, but really it's sort of for me.

ETA: Turns out, this isn't a good driving mix. It makes me all pensive. Also, I need to switch the order of a couple of the tracks. Ah well.

Google tells me I've never made a post detailing just what "highly adulterated" means. So I thought I'd make a random post about it. My apologies if the images are too small to make sense of. If this turns out to be the case for people other than me, I'll repost the images in a larger size (guaranteed to screw up on the SG journal format but that's alright).

So, this is my new favourite tea.

zoom image

It's a black from The Oolong Tea House in Calgary, where Michele and Freakpirate and I went on Tuesday night and I spent at least ten minutes sniffing all the jars gleefully. I behaved myself, though, and I only got a small tin of Monk's Blend:

Which, by the by, is officially the tastiest of black teas evar. This may have something to do with the grenadine and vanilla the site tells me it's blended with. It would make a fantastic chai, so now I need a recipe for homemade chai lattes.

Though some would argue that my adulteration might as well be a latte:

In that mug of tea there are about two teaspoons of sugar and enough milk to turn a black tea that colour. That, my loves, is what I call highly adulterated tea. It's kind of funny; for someone who likes tea as much as I do and who has tried as many different kinds as I have, I'm pretty much the opposite of a purist. A friend of mine once nearly gagged watching me put sugar and milk into a green tea with jasmine. I laughed at him. To be fair, though, I don't usually put milk in green teas, because they're usually not bitter, which is one of the main reasons I put milk in tea in the first place.

Also, if it's a really poor quality random orange pekoe type, I have even been known to use (gasp!) cream.

On a completely unrelated note, here's my agenda for March. The red ink is major assignments, papers, or tests. Black ink is mostly unchangeable stuff. There's also some stuff that's going on there (such as the weekly dinner I think I've mentioned) that's not there yet. Sigh.

And here's April.

On a third note, it's now 5 in the morning and I've just spent an hour mucking about with Photoshop to produce this from the sketch quasievil drew me last year:

And now that I've conclusively proven that I'm goddamn insane, I'm off to bed. In retrospect, conceivably the two mugs of "high caffeine" tea were not a good plan at 1 am.

ETA: quasievil thinks I wasn't clear enough about what highly adulterated really means. So, for those of you who can't be bothered to read a post well enough to catch the italicized words, highly adulterated = a buttload of sugar + a buttload of milk. So there you have it.

Michele's post and Freakpirate's post pretty much describe how my reading week went.

Plus, after hanging out with wrin on Monday night, I handed in a paper late but within my second deadline on Tuesday before we left, and yesterday I went to choir, then to Red Deer with the family for lunch with more family for my dad's, nana's, and cousin's birthdays, then came back for a birthday party for a girl I knew from safewalk from last year, and then went to suburbs with the rest of the fairly small crowd. I was sad I missed sushi, but I pretty much ate from 1:30 when we got to Red Deer til 10:15 when misguided picked me up to drive me to suburbs. My friend, you see, is Chinese, and her parents made about twice as much food as the number of people there could have eaten in two days. So yeah. Stuffed with tasty foods.

Today I think mr_dave and I are going out to Chapters so I can get one of the books for my comp lit class (but not Burning Chrome, because for some reason noone in the city has it?) and I'm gonna sit and read all day.
