I figured turning 35 was a good reason to post something new, considering I haven't posted since December.

Getting together this weekend with some friends for trivia night at our place in honour of my birthday and before the party even shows up there was drama. Patty and I have a smallish apartment, so we only invited friends who we knew would interested in playing board games. Of course someone we didn't invite heard and you'd have sworn we'd shot their puppy while peeing in their All-Bran. Now this wasn't done out of any ill will, but only because of size limitations and the fact that they've never really been the board game type. I think what bothered me the most is rather than call us and clear things up, they pout to our friends until it gets back to us. I then say "man, it wasn't like that. If they want to come, consider them invited." Of course, now they refuse to invite the invitation. I figured, at 35, I was done with high school antics like this. Oh well, if they come on Saturday, they're welcome, if not I'll still be owning at Trivial Pursuit.

Actually, Saturday is shaping up to be a pretty great day this weekend. Starting the day off with a free screening of "Back To The Future." Then probably hitting up the record store for some new vinyl. After being responsible and getting groceries and paying bills, I'll be heading home to play some Clash on Rocksmith. I love that game (I can't say it enough) and they released The Clash track pack right before my birthday, so thank you, Ubisoft. Finally, rounding out the night with trivia and possibly pizza.

So, clearly, there is just too much awesome stuff happening tomorrow to let someone stuck in grade 10 to bring me down.

Until next post, everyone have a great day, week, fortnight or however long it takes me to post again.

biggrin smile

Just in case my status sentence didn't get to everyone:

"Merry Christmas to the whole SG community."

That's all. I figure most folks would be far to busy to read a whole blog post.. smile

So I'm now officially the XWA General Manager. A kayfabe role for story line purposes. I gotta say, I'm really looking forward to this. I've been writing for this wrestling promotion for 5 years now, but now I feel like I'm really part of the show. Best part is that it's a heel role, so my motivation: make the crowd HATE you. biggrin

Boy howdy, did they hate me. When it was announced this past Saturday (and the Saturday before in Fredericton) the booed and jeered so much I had to yell into the mic so I could be heard over the crowd.

This past Sunday was a really great day with some unwinding and "early Christmas" with friends who are heading out west for the holidays. Can you believe they'd never seen "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"? Well, Patty and I took care of that crime. I thought they were going to bust a gut laughing. I've seen it sooo many times over the years and it was really something to see it with people who have never watched it.

Start my Christmas vacation this Friday. I hope that means I get to spend a bit more time on SG.com as my days seem so packed the last little while that I barely have time to come home and go to bed.

Merry Christmas to everyone, just in case I don't get to though.

Man, the days are just packed, to steal a Calvin and Hobbes line. So much so that I've been relegated to only having time to check out sets and no time for blogs. Had some spare moments this morning so I figured I'd post some of the goings on of my existence for anyone who is interested.

XWA is into our winter season and it looks like my character is getting an upgrade. I won't give it away until all is said and done with the reveal, but I will say I'm really looking forward to moving into the more visible role.

Patty and I went out to the storage unit this past weekend to get our Christmas decorations and had a rather unexpected, unpleasant surprise. One of our totes was full of mildew. We saved most of the stuff, but a couple of things had to be thrown out. Among those things were cookbooks from Patty's grandmother. She was pretty upset about that, but there was nothing that could be done. They looked like they had been dug out of the ground, they were that covered.

We also took in a Rockabilly/Burlesque show. It was a pretty good time. Cool tunes and sexy ladies. Probably would have been better had the venue been a little larger, but it was still really great night. It also made me wish that an SG burlesque show would come around to my neck of the woods.

Halloween was a pretty great time this year. Patty went as Nurse Jackie and got all kinds of complements on her costume. I went as Travis Bickle and got nothing but "why didn't you wear a costume?" After I explained who I was dressed as and what movie it was from, I got nothing but "I've never seen that movie." I'm tellin' ya, sometime I feel like my friends are a bunch of Philistines. biggrin

Finally, this Sunday is Grey Cup day. As a Canadian football fan, I will be camped out on the couch for the game. I'm not traditionally an Argos fan, but as a dyed in the wool Eskimos fan I have to say "GO ARGOS!"

I'm out for now. Have a good one and drive safe everyone.

Wow, almost a whole month without a blog post. I must have been really busy. Considering we had our summer season finale for XWA. That went off huge, taped the re-cap, had a friend's birthday, two other friends got married and we have our winter season starter show this weekend. So I figured I'd take a brief second between all of this and my 3:30 - Midnight shifts to pop in and say "hey" to the SG community.

So... hey.

=0D

Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, that should be a good time with family. Maybe, hopefully, possibly. I'll get a chance to relax... but I wouldn't bet on it.

So I started back on the 3:30 to midnight shift this week. Most folks would hate it, but it's the best time to be in the place where I work. Most of the supervisors and "moms" have gone home and I can actually concentrate and get some work done. Also, the people I work with on this shift don't constantly carry on about reality TV and how everything not like it was when they were young. I don't know where the line is that people jump over and forget all the dumb things they did as a kid or how effed the world has always been, but I hope I see it a mile away so I don't jump over it. It is especially disheartening to hear people you grew up with and went through some of the wars of youth talk like it was a magical time where everything was so much better. You just want to punch them in the face and break their rose coloured glasses.

Bah, I'm rambling here, like old guys do. Heading off to the new grind.

So, yeah, it's been a while since I've been around, figured I'd pop in with a quick update for anyone who wanted to read about the life of a keyboard monkey who moonlights as a pro-wrestling ring announcer.

Had some fun a couple of weekends back at the shows. Saint John was nice but Fredericton was OFF THE CHAIN! (do people still say that?) Not only was it a decent crowd the weekend of a music festival, they were a super hot crowd from beginning to end. So much so that we had to eject one drunken fellow who was so riled up by the festivities that he decided it was good idea to fight one of our guys. One of our guys that he knew personally, no less. So he knows it's all a show, he knows his friend is playing a character, he knows EVERYTHING is scripted and he still decided he jumping the barrier to fight a pro-wrestler was a good idea. Interesting folks at the York Arena.

Patty got back, as indicated by my status update from 2 weeks ago. She had a great time in TO and purchased far too many things for me. She said it was because she got to go to the Hockey Hall of Fame while I was back here in Fogtown. Canada's Wonderland and Younge Street too. So I gladly accepted her tokens of "I-was-thinking-of- you."

Finished off last week with a small amount of news about adoption, but I don't want to jinx it by talking about it out loud (or typing it out loud, as it were), so stay tuned and I'll post more as thing hopefully start to solidify.

Man, what a long week it has been so far. Patty is having a great time in TO, I'm having a "man I miss her" time here in SJ. But they're travelling home one day sooner, so she'll be back here all that much quicker. biggrin

But not to despair, I've got something to occupy my time after today and until Patty gets back. We've got the shows tomorrow and Saturday. Gonna do the announcing for both the SJ and Freddytown shows, so my weekend should be fairly packed and fly by quite quickly. X.. ..X (fingers crossed)

On another note. The Blacks Harbour show was decent. The real story happened outside the ring. At intermission, a couple of drunken rubes tried to fight one of our heels (wrestling for "bad guy"). Luckily nothing came of it and they were escorted from the building, only to try and fight one of our security guys. Cops showed up before that could happen. Don't mess with the drunks in Blacks Harbour, they're serious about their pro wrestling.

Another interesting note about Blacks Harbour was that they have some of the smokin'-est (not really a word) women I've ever seen. Must have to do with salt air and sardines. Though if the older generation is indicative of what happens later in life... yikes. It's like the Russian babushka bomb. Where an insanely hot Russian girl at some point in life crosses over and starts to look like Maleficent's old witch disguise from "Snow White."

But I'm rambling here. Off to work for another day. Don't let the grind, grind you down too much.

Heading down to Blacks Harbour today for an XWA road show. One day down, 9 more to go. Man this is gonna seem like forever. At least I have this to look forward to next weekend:

and after that Patty should be back the next day (possibly Monday, depending on the driving conditions between here and Ontario.)

Last day of vacation.... great, now I'm depressed.

Okay, happy again.

Got back from the camp last night. Good couple of days. Patty was terrified by an evil troutasaurus swimming in the brook. When I explained to her that it was only a trout she replied with "You didn't see his eyes. He was looking right at me." So I was giggling about that for a couple of days, call me mean if you will.

Had some sushi with a couple of friends of ours last night, watched "Super 8" and played some video games. Then we went to another friend's birthday party, ended up playing Rock Band (Is it 2008?) until about 3:00 in the morning. Still, pretty great old time.

Gonna wrap it all up tonight by going to the drive-in to see a double bill of "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Dark Shadows." An odd combination if you ask me, but it should be a good time. The drive-in usually is.

On my closing note, please remember to support your favourite hopefuls to get them the coveted pink status.

Here are just a couple good examples:

Hazzard

Ellora

Cynk
