Day 6 into Vacation. Played a lot of L.A Noire yesterday. It's my vacation, if I wanna play opposite day Grand Theft Auto set in 1947 most of the day, I figure that's my prerogative. Also watched "Give 'Em Hell Malone" last night. Funny movie. Sort of a send up of all those old pulp movies/novels (like the stuff LA Noire is based on) without being an outright parody. Watched the 1000th episode of RAW yesterday too. Good stuff, interesting returns and story twists. I think Tout is going to be the next thing I'll be shaking my fist in regards to "them dern kids and their internets." I haven't had much experience with the site, but if the sort of stuff being shown on RAW is what's to be expected, I'll probably pass on this one too. I guess Warhol was right about the number but wrong about the time measurement. Unless he was talking about New York minutes. Since I've been giving YouTube selections to go along with most of my posts this week, why mess with a good thing? Lots of folks may have seen this one before, but I figured I would share. Saw this in Vancouver at "Spike & Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation". Was laughing so hard I wasn't actually making any sounds at one point. Have your 3D glasses ready because HERE COMES DR. TRAN!
Day 4 into my vacation. Got back from the Miramichi yesterday after driving through what felt like 300km of pure humidity. Patty and I stopped in Boiestown, which is (according to a sign there) the geographic centre of New Brunswick. Took some pictures of the sign that told us that, a giant tree trimmer (it's a forestry community) and a fully restored TBM Avenger Air Tanker. A plane that was used for 46 years in the forestry industry to help fight forest fires.
Stopped in Fredericton for a quick lunch and I picked up "LA Noire" for PS3. Pretty sweet little game. Very atmospheric. I ended up playing for over 5 hours.
Finally ended up watching "Brian's Song" thanks to Glove & Boots. Here's how I got the recommendation:

Day 2 into the vacation. Did the show in Miramichi last night and it was off the chain (do people still say that?). Tyson Dux was a good guy, friendly and easy to talk with. May seem odd to mention that, but I've heard of a lot of guys who have worked for WWE and other promotions with TV and PPV deals that think they're God's gift to entertainment, even if they only had a cup of coffee on TV. Not the case with this guy and I hope our promoter books him again sometime soon. No injuries and the crowd was a slow burn to white hot for the main event.
It is hot as naughty bits here in the 'Chi this weekend. Patty and I spent today kicking around town. I got a new hat and new bowling shirt. Bowling shirts are rarer than hen's teeth in my neck of the woods it seems. Ate at The Cunard Restaurant in downtown Chatam. If you're ever in Miramichi, NB, I highly recommend eating there. It's a New Brunswick institution. I remember seeing the commercials for the place on CBC when I was a kid. Thirty *cough* *cough* years later and I finally got around to eating there. Well worth the wait, but I wish I hadn't waited so long. Topped off the day on the town in bustling Miramichi by seeing "Ted." Seth McFarland may not be everyone's cup of tea, but Patty and I had a great time. Not wanting to give too much away, but I will say there is nothing like seeing a foul mouthed teddy bear fight a duck named James Franco to make nearly have a stroke from laughter.
Now, as I write this, I'm slowly getting tilted on Fireball and Ceasers in the hotel room while I watch 'The Great Escape" (FANTASTIC movie, for anyone who hasn't seen it) while Patty has some blackberry wine cooler. So far, this is looking to be a pretty great vacation. And that is all I ever wanted. You see what I did there?

More to come on this later, but my vacation beings at 8:00 Atlantic time this evening. SO in honour (that's right, with a "u", I'm Canadian =D ) of this long overdue event, please enjoy the following selection:
ZOMFG! and every other meme used to express awesomeness! Not only did I get to announce Ted DiBiase. Not only did I get to hang out with him and hear some interesting stories. I got to be the one to take the hour and a half trip to and from Fredericton with him. Driving him that distance we got to shoot the breeze, hear his stories about him, and the wrestlers I grew up watching, travel the roads and get up to all the things they got up to with ribs and whatnot. A really down to earth and a class act all the way. He took Patty and I out for breakfast and a really interesting thing happened. I found out that he is just like my dad. A funny, kind of derpy guy who likes gadgets and electronics. He likes hunting and fishing and Johnny Cash. He's also a total goober who likes fart jokes. It was really refreshing to meet a guy who has gone the places he has, seen the things that he's seen, had fame and recognition and still a regular guy, approachable and easy to talk to. I could tell some of the stories, but text would just not do them justice. I will tease with that one of them involved him using a fart machine sound board on his iPhone and me doing my best not to veer off the road from laughing so hard. Turns out I guess I like fart jokes too.
I get to announce a wrestling card with The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase as the special guest this weekend. While this is some awesome news and something I've been looking forward to ever since I found out in May, it's also the thing that has been making my week go EXTRA slow. It's pretty crazy. If you'd told the 10 year old me, watching WWF Wrestling Challenge on Saturday mornings that some day I'd be doing this I probably wouldn't have believed you. I also probably would have said "What are you doing in my parent's living room? STRANGER DANGER! STRANGER DANGER! I NEED AN ADULT! I NEED AN ADULT!" My dad is coming to the event too, this will be the first time he's ever seen me do my ring announcer shtick. So I really hope it's a good turn out. If anyone who is in the area (and is interested) our show is Friday the 6th in Saint John (LBR) and Saturday the 7th in Fredericton (York Arena). Doors at 7 on both shows
I hope everyone in Canada and the US had good national holidays for their respective countries.
On an interesting side note, I had an interview for my job this week. Not a new management/vetting kind of interview, but a straight up job interview for the same job I've had for the last 3 years. If successful I'll go from constant term extensions to full position. A red tape interview. Ugh. I tell you, every day I get more and more ground down by my day job. One of these days, I'm gonna make a living at something I love to do. But today isn't that day, so off to work.

Alright, so it's been over a week. A pretty up and down one at that. Got to spend the day in Moncton with Patty and friends before the Rollins show. A really nice day and we just walked around all afternoon. Picked up a Beavis & Butthead lunch box and a first edition of Millencolin's "Tiny Tunes." $8 for an album that was pulled due to the band being threatened to be sued out of existence. A small price to pay to have a bit of punk history. Patty had her first Margarita at supper, I think the people at Mexicali Rosa's created a monster. The show was great with the small exception that the merch was sorely lacking. No books, no CDs, just one DVD to buy and t-shirts no larger than a small. The show itself was awesome. 3 hours flew right by for me (for Patty not so much) but we got to meet Henry after the show, got some autographs and pics with the man. I got him to sign my copy of "Hot Animal Machine" and Patty got him to sign a copy of "Henry & Glen Forever." The picture of him and Patty was taken right at the moment he read the comic she'd asked him to sign. This one right here:
If she thought it was cute, I thought it hilarious, it looks like Henry thought it was off-putting,

Oh well, I got my pic with him and I can compare it to the one I had taken in 2010. Smaller, but still a ways to go. =D
The down part of the week was going back to the grind after spending an awesome day in Moncton and seeing Rollins. Right back to the cubicle. It's not that the people I work with are bad, it's just really suburban and boring. People who think the most mundane things are the height of comedy and make references to pop culture from 5 or 10 years ago like it's current and they're the hippest folks around. Someone actually made a C & C Music Factory reference the other day like they were still toppin' the charts. Maybe I'm being a jaded dink, but it can wear you down. It reminds me of high school a lot, actually. I'm sure anyone who's done time in a call centre can relate.
On an up note our friends had a new baby boy. Funny to think of them as parents, but they have a great support base between friends and family so they'll do great. Named him Dexter, so in a tradition of giving newborns their first counter culture item, I'll be buying him his first Offspring CD... or maybe actual vinyl record.
Wrapped up the whole weekend by just kind of hiding out and relaxing with Patty. Enjoying not having any real responsibilities to answer to for the first time in over a month.

Great weekend. Finally got to relax. Probably a full blog post tomorrow about all of it plus ROLLINS! Going to see him tomorrow night in Moncton. Until then, enjoy the new pics from this past weekend's roller derby bout between The Scarlet Swarm and Hit's N' Sass. Also, got a new photo in my profile 3, featuring my new hair colour and style, courtesy of Patty.
Another hectic weekend has come and gone. Saturday was SUPER packed. Started with a birthday party for 3 folks at the same time. My aunt, my nephew (and Godson) and my Dad. Sweet BBQ and a pretty good afternoon with family. One thing I will note, June 9th is a TAD early to be getting in the pool. I could have posed for a hopefuls set it was that cold. =D
Followed that up with a derby bout. The Shipyard Sirens pulled out an OT win against the visiting Lumbersmacks from Moncton. Patty got a new HTC phone on Saturday (a whole other story all together) so we used it to take a bunch of pics of the bout and I got off my butt and actually uploaded them to my profile, so feel free to check them out.
Finished up the night with a diaper party for one of out XWA refs. It was a pretty good time despite one of the guys being a total pig towards the end telling stories of how awesome him and his numerous one night stands were. I also got punched in the face by our promoter, but luckily it was an in-ring punch and he pulled it. Still, contact to the face when you're not expecting it is not that fun.... but it was pretty funny in retrospect.
Sunday was a nice day with my other Godson and his dad while Patty went to the ref's wife's baby shower. The little guy loves 2 things for sure. Slides and Spider-Man. Not sure which one I'm prouder of. Out to the folks place for supper with them for a more personal birthday celebration with dad. Finished the whole thing with hanging out with the other XWA ref and playing "Burn Zombie Burn" while Patty and his wife talked about the "50 Shades..." books.
I've had a pretty good couple of weekends these past few, but I'll tell ya, I'm looking forward to only having roller derby next weekend. On a side note: One week from today.... ROLLINS!

Well, a quick Monday morning post. Had a pretty good weekend. Did the wrestling announcer gig on Friday and it went fairly well with a minor sound glitch or two. The guys had a good crowd in Fredericton too, so I hope that translates to a nice big crowd when Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase comes in next month. After got to watch the classic cartoon series "Angry Beavers" and played some "Rocksmith" with L & T who were down visiting for the wrestling show.
Saturday was a pretty great day. Went to the Irving Nature Park with Patty and our Godson. Spent an hour or so just walking around and talking pictures of the little guy chasing squirrels. Came back and played some Earthworm Jim then headed out for derby at the LBR. Roller derby was pretty sweet considering the bout was a blowout. Got a Fog City Rollers t-shirt and some buttons & stickers from the visiting team (Halifax).
Sunday was a nice relaxing day. Sat back watched some Netflix (Dark Crystal was a nice time trip), had some BBQ and hung out with friends.
All in all it was a check in the weekend win column. Now back to clacking a keyboard for 5 days straight. Day jobs kinda suck, but they pay the bills so I can have good weekends like this past one. Best of luck to everyone in the grind.
