11yrs ago something very ugly and tragic happened. Many loved ones were lost and many families were torn apart. I don't give a RATS ASS about the politics behind it on EITHER side. I grieve for the thousands of lives lost. For the mother's and father's who will never again see their children and for the people who will never again get to kiss their sweetheart goodbye on their way to work......

Today is a sad day. My heart is heavy. Please take a moment in respect and think back to where you were on this day 11yrs ago and please share! I would love to know how you remember this day because I remembered it like it was yesterday!

I was a mechanic at the time, well out of school. I was test driving a car, and heard about the towers on Howard Stern. I got back to the shop in time to watch them fall on TV. We all changed that crazy day.blackeyed

When it happened I was working as truck driver for our local newspaper. When I got home early in the morning, saw the planes crashing in the buildings on TV. I was shocked and couldn't believe it. It was a day where you were just speechless. The good thing is it unified our nation and it showed the goodness in people to support each other. But always this day we all grieve for what happened.

I woke up all kinds of tired for work & turned on KUBE 93.3 and heard comments about terrorist's and was like Damn, they must be playing there old broad cast's again. As they have when certain people are on vacation.
So I get to work about an hour later {Taco time} I walked in and everyone was all kinds of moody and weird, so I am like ok, what happened ? Then my boss Louetta is like damn did you not turn on the tv, radio or anything ? So when she told me I was like ok, as I am a visual person hearing about it didn't affect me. When I got off that night I turned on the TV and was in shock.

Today we remember the lost and fallen and the brave who went in without hesitation. Its amazing to see how far we have come since September 11. 2001.

I think it was a tuesday...was it? Here in Austria every TV and radio channel stoped its programm and show the pictures and videos of the first plane who crashed one of the towers. Like in the states, everybody thinks it was an accident, but after the second....
The whole next days you can see no other things on TV...
And every day you hear this song...i believe it was Enya...
For me it was a (bad) surprise to see that something like this happend in the USA...because when it happend there, it could be everywhere....

I was a junior in college, headed to classical political thought. The classroom was on the upper floor of the library and I had a habit of checking cnn.com before class. The site was crashed by excess traffic. I went up to class and the news was on. We watched and then I heard that a plane was heading towards the Pentagon. My dad was supposed to be giving a briefing at the Pentagon that morning, so I lost my mind a bit. Cell phones were a good bit less common those days and I did not own one. I frantically checked e-mails and bummed cellminutes from friends while trying to track my father down. Three hours passed before my dad was able to get word out from D.C. that his briefing had been cancelled and he was instead working in one of the Pentagon annex buildings that morning. Among the scariest hours in my life. The next day I bought my first cell phone, so often times when I grab my phone I think about why I got one in the first place. Certainly a day I'll never forget.
As a bonus, I was in the Sarasota/Bradenton area at the time, where Pres. Bush was reading to school children on 9/11. I got to see Air Force One fly over my dorm as we continued to watch the news coverage.

I had recently graduated college. I hadn't yet found work and didn't have any interviews planned so I was sleeping in a bit. An old friend of mine called and woke me up. He said that the trade center was gone. I thought he was messing with me. But, I turned on the tv anyways. By the time I did, the first tower was already down. Over a cup of coffee feelings of disbelief, the second tower fell.
I went outside. It was sunny. The only sound was birds. The sky was quiet...no planes.
Time seemed to stop........
