FADED FLOWERS - Shriekback - 1985

This is the sound of poisons
The sickness no one knows
No one is crying for us this time
Our shapes are blurring under miracles of snow
Weave a circle round him three times
You have to plan your moves at these times
Our hearts are breaking
One more song to go

These eyes are blind
This is a pure thing
These hands I kiss
Tragic as anything
These eyes are blind
This is a pure thing
All splash and hiss
Beyond my measuring

Only the anacrucis
The main event remains
Shameful and naked out there
In the great cold outdoors
We have to learn these things again
Bathe in this incandescent glow
The leap to something I don't know
There is no doubt upon us when
The greasy men come back again

These eyes are blind
This is a pure thing
These hands I kiss
Tragic as anything
These eyes are blind
This is a pure thing
All splash and hiss
Beyond my measuring
These faded flowers
Precious as memory
A veil of cloud
Correct as energy
We had some good machines
But they don't work no more
I loved you once
Don't love you anymore

WAY OF LIFE - The Puppets - 1983

We play with passion
We dress in tune
We didn't know if we were mocked or seen or in between
But while at the border
We got an order
They said romance just wasn't party line leave it behind now

When it came to loving
How'd you do it
Oh when it came to loving
How'd you do it
We practiced long embraces
Kissed such familiar faces
But no one ever closed their eyes

We learn to live with a little pain my dear
We love the tension in the atmosphere
It was a way of life
Though not the best I'm sure
It was a way of life

Dance in the darkness
Dance 'til you die
We didn't know if we would ever see the day again
But while at the border
We got an order
They said romance just wasn't party line leave it behind

When it came to loving
How'd you do it
Oh when it came to loving
How'd you do it
We practiced long embraces
Kissed such familiar faces
But no one ever closed their eyes

We learn to live with a little pain my dear
We love the tension in the atmosphere
It was a way of life
Though not the best I'm sure
It was a way of life

It is a crime against all decent, nice and fluffy things in the universe that this song has practically vanished. NuRo/New Wave synthpop never - never, folks - got better than this. If you haven't heard this gem, and boogied to it, I feel sorry for you. I truly do.

There is something I want to ask you.
There is something that I want to know.
And to the question, you have the answer.
So tell me what I want to know...

Do you wanna funk?
Won't you tell me now?
If you wanna funk, let me show you how.
Do you wanna funk with me?

Who says giant, evil space brains can't boogie?

Jesus. I am so high right now.

No man with a generous natural endowment ever looked in the mirror and said, “Wow, I hope this makes women think I have a sports car,” but the opposite is what keeps Porsche in business.

A problem: I never know what to write in the "comments" section of an SG's picture set. The more I like the pics, the more tongue-tied I become. Stepping right up and saying how turned on I was just seems crude and obvious.

Just how explicit should one be?

I cut myself today
To see if I could blee-- uh, actually I did it to make money off faux-goth attitude mongering and pretentious alt-music dirges about how bad I feel.
