These are busy times. Probably for me just as for everybody else. I find it sad. Christmas should be a calm, quiet and relaxed time, right? I am already trying to avoid city centre's like the plague and thanks to the interwebs, I can do my Christmas shopping from home.
Today is St. Nikolaus day in Germany and my manager, being German too, brought in some treats from home. It's amazing how much more I appreciate things from home, now that I live abroad. I am a little cautious though not to try and force my culture on anybody here as I came her to live in England and do as the English do. Today it seemed that everybody was happy with that particular bit of German culture though. Sweets are international.

Not a whole lot has been going on here. I went on my trip and had a really great time. Especially since I went to some places I'd have never been to:

Galway was basically about catching up with my friends, relaxing and party! I didn't take any photos as I always think I probably have most of them multiple times already, as I have been there a lot.

I picked up an NME for the first time in ages and discovered Warpaint through that. Best timing ever as it was only a few weeks until their gig at Brighton Digital. I promptly bought the album and a ticket and have had a bit of a crush on Emily Kokal ever since I went...

The last and most recent highlight was something SG related though. At least in a way... as I purchased some art from one of my all-time favourite SG's and SG friends Kikka!

So here's some special thanks. I will have to get a frame for this soon and then it will find a nice place on my kitchen wall. There really is something special about snail mail in the digital age. smile

I lieeebe Snailmail!!

I'm not happy unless I'm getting something done. I get soooooo miserable when I'm sick because I can't do anything.

And thanks for the complement. blush

Hey, thanks for dropping by! I had a very dramatic birthday but it ended up with a fabulous night out with the girls so all was not lost!

I haven't been updating my blog as much as I'd like but I will work harder to do it in the future.

I hope that you're well, keeping busy and most of all that you're happy smile

xx

You haven't updated for a while but Saint Paul de Vence looks beautiful and that last picture makes me want to buy drawings by Kikka! It's definitely a great pleasure for me to watch and record small moments and the all the details of life. I've been reading lots of Katherine Mansfield short stories too it's easy to start to see the world as if they're her stories. I hope you're well :-)

Hello, is it tonight (Saturday) you're going to be here? Do you want somewhere to listen to music and if so what kind? Or are you looking for somewhere with nice beers or whisky? Or somewhere to dance or watch bands or?... :-)

Now that I'm trying to think about it I'm not sure how useful I'll be. I never go to clubs so I don't have any suggestions there. There might be something on here - http://www.thecabaretvoltaire.com/view_events.php?type=2. I did used to go to some of the alternative/rock bars but I don't think they're very good anymore or perhaps never were! There are two old cinemas which have quite nice bars in them, The Cameo and The Filmhouse but they're for a kind of quiet night I guess so it depends what you're looking for. Near them is also Cloisters - http://www.bestpubs.co.uk/layout0.asp?pub=105866 and Brauhaus - http://www.viewedinburgh.co.uk/pubsandbars/brauhaus-maps-57074.html. Brauhaus has 300 different beers and is quite small and busy Cloisters has loads of nice ales and whiskys but it's quite light and they don't play any music. On the other side of town the Canons Gate is quite nice, it's further down the Royal Mile than the crappy tourist stuff but you still get to see some of that nice area, they have real ales and nice whisky too - http://www.bestpubs.co.uk/layout0.asp?pub=143220 This bar is in Leith which is a bit further away but it's nice - http://www.bodabar.com/mt-static/boda.html Maybe too far away but if you walk all the way down Leith Walk there are some quite interesting places at the shore. This is the art college bar/club, it's kind of run down but maybe a good atmosphere - http://www.list.co.uk/event/75765-the-egg/ This is one of the best places for traditional music - http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/edinburgh/pubguide/sandybells.html and http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/edinburgh/pubguide/tass.html I think all these websites make the pubs looks quite crap for some reason! Arg, wracking my brains... will post anything else I think of...
