July 2008 was a totally awesome month. Having to work only 16 days out of the 31 days in July brought me great pleasure.
The East Coast Camping trip was a blast. I'm glad I got to spend some time with Misha and Bobby in the car on the ride up to and from Maryland before she got archived on SG. The entire weekend was great. Of the 90 or so people there, I went knowing only eight. By the end of the weekend, I "knew" almost everyone. It was such a comfortable atmosphere, I could walk up to anyone and talk like we were friends. Within two days after camping, I received 15 friend requests. I suppose I could and/or should have sent some friend requests, but I liked knowing that they really did want to have me on their friends list when they sent me a friendship request and weren't just politely accepting the request.
I spent the last week of July in Florida. I drove down on Saturday and planned to come back on Wednesday, but the friends I stayed with at their condo in Fort Walton Beach talked me into staying the rest of the week. I had a truly great time, not working, visiting with friends, relaxing in sunny Florida. We went parasailing, snorkling, rode jet skis, even did a little shopping (I do hate shopping.) If I had known that I was going to end up spending nearly an entire bi-weekly paycheck while I was down there, I would have stayed at home. Oh well, I had a great time and truly benefited from taking time off work and relaxing.
When I returned home, my roommate tells me that his car got repo'd while I was away and he had to pay about $2000 to get it back. He asked if I would be able to let him not pay rent this month and he'll make it up over the next two months. So after spending a paycheck in Florida, I find out that I'll be getting less income this month. Fortunately I do have at least 2 paychecks worth of money in the bank.
Going back to work last week was a drag, but I found that I didn't drag as much at work. Taking a vacation allowed me to relax and refresh,...
