some days i really hate my job...

yeah, i know...we all have that feeling sometimes. but this is my blog, so i'm going to pretend i'm the only one, okay?

so anyway...i figured today would be easy. suicide scrub. the houses are always empty after those...either the people move out, or they at least stay away until the site has been restored.

not today.

nope...today i had to scrub the walls, tear up the carpet and pad so i could scrub the subfloor, and repaint the whole wall...all this with the guy's wife sitting in the hallway watching me. and since the crime scene unit ruled it a suicide and signed off, they left behind a whole lotta pieces of skull, scalp, hair and brain on the walls and floor. and we have to go back to the same site tomorrow to finish the restore.

so yeah...bagging up the remains of a guy's head while his wife watches. just when i thought life couldn't get anymore awkward...

Oy...I will say that's a weird situation...the fact that the wife doesn't even move away from all this is too weird. Guess I should not complain about being a spreadsheet jockey, Powerpoint-whore and consulting-lingo by the mouthful....

I hope you are at least working with other people so it is not just you alone with the widow...

Hope things get a bit better tomorrow...

I was about to say, "At least you didn't have to deal with the corpse," but then continued reading.

You could've said, "Would you like a souvenir?" as she was watching you - to break the ice and make headway. Ok ... I'll stop.

Perhaps it'll be less awkward today.

So I was stumbling around this site, and I saw your blog. Wow, that has to be terrible. Have a friend who actually did the same exact job as you years ago. Unfortunately, it left him traumatized to the point where he doesn't like talking, or even joking, about anything morbid or death related.

I couldn't imagine doing a job like that, especially the situation you described above, but you do what you gotta do.

Yeah that sounds hard enough without the added emotional distress of a lost loved one watching you do it. I would be wigged out that she was gonna snap. Somedays just suck, they can't all be winners I suppose.

Holy shit! You have a terrible job, I don't know how you do it. I would be so depressed if I was around that, I couldn't do it.
