I've been so busy that I'd completely forgotten about the free three months SG has given me, and I think they're all but squandered now...
I'm snowed under with undreds of orrible things to do, and to learn, and to forget - my supervisor tells me the only time we'll ever have to stop learning new things is when we're finally placed in a box.
The science campus - the unquestionably unregal King's Buildings - is so green, all the trees looks amazing and there are no undergrads - it's quiet, it's actually quite nice. You don't notice how many trees there are when they're naked for most of the teaching year, but they've creeped up out of nowhere and make it a lot more enjoyable place to spend half my time.
Is there an entry in the 'heroes' box on your profile page? My hero is Fridtjof Nansen, he was a Norwegian polar explorer, oceanographer, athlete, neuroscientist, diplomat and 1922 winner of the nobel peace prize. I've read several of his biographies, he's a jolly inspiring fellow and I'd heartily recommend you to look one up. Who are your heroes?

Since the last time I was on SG (some THREE years ago! crivens!) I've been busy - I've completed my undergrad degree, travelled round europe, started a masters degree, and now I'm seeking adventures and phds.
I wasn't sure if I was cut out for a career in science, but then I read this: the importance of stupidty.
I'm still in Edinburgh.
There's a retarded crow living in my parents' garden. He (I assume he's male) is over 18 months old, but is still regularly fed by his parents, drags his wings, sleeps in the middle of the lawn and regularly falls over... the next time I visit my parents I'll try and capture him on video - there's absolutely no doubt this crow has been touched.
So, hello again SG folks... my friends list is a bit shot, but I'll make some new sg pals soon enough!

I've spent most of my time in the field for my degree course. Without the internet my flatmates and I have been sitting around the lounge talking to each other in the evenings instead of tapping away infront of the dull glow of a monitor. It's insane.
What is red and invisible?
No tomatoes.

When I was younger I thought that the word hardly meant "not at all" - so I used to tell my parents "I hardly punched him" or "I hardly broke it!" and would still be punished. It took me years to figure it out.
I also used to think that superb was actually superv. And that vivid was vivdiv.
Tropical fevers are rare in Scotland.
Acoustic Ladyland are unbelivably, bowelshudderingly, teethachingly, braindisolvingingly amazing live.
