Sorry it's been so long since my last post, but it's been crazy!
On the PhD front, Leeds offered me my dream scholarship, then Manchester offered me an even better one - I went to have a look round Manchester and suddenly picking a uni was impossible... And then Gothenburg offered me a junior lectureship with a PhD at the end of it o.o Gothenburg's offer would have been unbelievable, but the way to find out if living abroad is for me is probably not with a 4-year contract >.< So in the end, I've plumped for...

Manchester!
So in January I'm off to do a PhD in Bioethics and Medical Jurisprudence - and I can't wait!
And on the love-life front - the guy I'd been on a date with in the last post is now my boyfriend
He's beyond amazing: gorgeous, ferociously intelligent, funny, sweet, generous, affectionate, silly, quick-witted, and talented to boot. Beyond happy about this turn of events :3 Here we are on Saturday, when he met my friends

In short: everything's a bit wonderful right now <3
Hope your May is off to a good start!

You can't take me anywhere

Just in case anyone was wondering: The date went well. Really well. He's rather lovely, I'm seeing him again this week: definitely on Friday, and perhaps earlier in the week as well.
So just to recap:
In either October or January I will be kick-starting my dream career by researching into my favourite area of bioethics at one of the top unis in The North
I have amazing and fun friends
It's getting warmer
And I have an awesome new fella in my life
All in all: I am one happy panda

You know how last time I updated I was celebrating? Well I'm celebrating again.
Remember last week I mentioned that I'd had an interview for my dream job/scholarship at my first choice uni? Well. I got it!

So it looks like I'm going to be studying for a PhD in applied ethics while teaching philosophy and medical ethics to undergrads.
So if anyone else is going to be in Leeds from October, do say hello ;D
That said, I promised to have a look around at Manchester Uni before I make any final decision, and Leeds are moving things around to try to give me an answer about another scholarship before the deadline for the teaching award- but one way or another I'll be working on my PhD thesis this time next year...
In other news:
My best frield Sadie (the one who's visiting me from Portsmouth) and I have just had a few days away: Liverpool which was ace (and I'm sorry, but the accent is damn sexy... :p) and Manchester, which was OK (though to be fair, we probably would have enjoyed it more if we weren't knackered). We didn't take many photos in the end (unlike us!), but there are a few under the spoiler.

Oh, and also: I may have a date tomorrow
With a cute Chemistry student I got talking to when we went out and got slaughtered on Saturday (I'll be curious to see if he recognises me/is still interested when I turn up sans wig
). Though I'm feeling a bit of a cradle-snatcher: he's 21 o.o Oh dear.... ![]()
That said: most of this long weekend has principally involved people refusing to believe I'm 24. Can't complain ![]()
Hope your April is also turning out to be rather spiffing! ![]()
Last night was a lot of fun...

We were celebrating: Manchester have offered me a fully-funded PhD!
*ultimate academia dance*
Now after 13 hours out last night, I'm having a VERY lazy Sunday today >.<
Hope you guys are having a good weekend!

Another mixed few days, but I'll start with some good news:
I have an interview tomorrow for my dream job/scholarship at my first choice uni
Basically, even though Leeds have yet to decide whether they want me on their student list (despite dragging me in for a 3-hour meeting last year when they thought I wouldn't apply), I have an interview for a teaching assistantship tomorrow. Basically, if I got the assistantship, then I'd be teaching 4-6hours per week in the philosophy dept, and in exchange they'd pay me a livable salary and pay my tuition fees for my PhD. So it'd be training for my dream job AND I'd be able to afford to write my thesis.... So as you can imagine, I'm terrified >.<
Now for a quick rubbish bit:
Me & Joe have broken up
I did it last night. It was horrid and shit, but it was exactly the right thing to do. He was really understanding (which kind of made it worse), and he said he'd still like to be friends, although he wants some space for now (which is more than understandable). So yeah, that sucks but I also know it's for the best. So now I'm just going to try and focus on my career and my family & friends for a bit before bothering with anyone new. I need to get my head clear.
But let's finish on a wonderful note:

My Sadie's coming up!!
She will be arriving into Sheffield this afternoon :3
For those of you who don't know: Sadie is my best friend from uni, we lived together from September 2008 til May 2011 and had a ball doing so. No cross words, no awkward silences - just non-stop fun, love, and support. She looked after me when me and my fiance broke up in October 2010, and even though we were living over 200 miles apart she was an absolute rock throughout the ultra shit family & boy dramas I had in late 2011 and early 2012. Sadly, the fact we both went back to our home towns after uni means we've gone from living together and being inseparable to only seeing each other roughly twice a year
...But that doesn't matter right now because she's coming over today!
*boogies* So I'm running a few errands once I've come round: tidying and whatnot, then running a few errands in town before collecting her at the station. So excited

So yes. Swings and roundabouts!
Hope you guys are having a good April

I made brownies for the first time ever tonight. Creme egg ones, to be precise.
Not to toot my own horn, but they turned out rather ace. (toot).

So proud of myself right now, I can't even tell you
