While I did kind of wreck my back carrying around a very heavy backpack, I think I found some better places to shop at (though they're more of a walk.) There's a weird place that only sells frozen food that looks like it's got stuff, and there is a big Tesco with cheap things (I got evaporated milk for 55p which is about half what I've been paying, and I saw cans of spaghetti for 17p.)

I'm having weird difficulty finding baking soda in large containers though. I checked 3 different stores and none had just a box of baking soda. I use it as my deodorant so a little "convenient pouch" with 1 tbs isn't quite right for me.

I also found a tea shop where I bough somewhat pricy tea but I hope it will be worth it. I got Chilli Chai and Chocolate Tea. The store was called Anteaques.

ha ha. Why am I not surprised you were able to poke one? Pigeons are so...special. They really are like the little short bus riders on the bird list.

Tesco's own brand (basics or essentials) I think they are called are really dood value, plus I think you could probably pick up their frozen "beef burgers" really really cheap at the mo (sorry couldn't resist that one)

I'm not 100% sure on this one but I believe what we call bicarbonate soda is what you call baking soda and if it is then you can get larger packs of bicarbonate soda almost everywhere.

Hope you're doing OK and look after your back

Hokey smoke--you're in Scotland now. I really have failed to dial in for a while. I will be following your adventures much more closely in future.
