I finally finished editing the photos from the Rockstar Metal Mayhem Fest here in Chicago. It only took HOURS of fucking eye-bleeding editing. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Behemoth

Slayer

Bullet For My Valentine

You can view the rest on my blog -- http://www.casanovaphotos.com/a/index.php/component/option,com_mojo/Itemid,48/

I hope the heat isn't melting everyone else like it is me! I found a sweet air conditioner for $50 off of Craigslist earlier! I love the interwebz.

I always update this blog so sporadically. I hope things have been good with everyone. I've been extremely busy as of late. I started doing promotions for this bar, Betty's Blue Star Lounge. It's a pretty cool job so far, it basically consists of me sitting online even longer than I already do and e-mailing people, setting up event pages and booking DJ's. -- Easiest. Job. Ever. -- I'm making pretty good money too. I don't think it's possible for me to fuck this one up either!

DJ Demchuck Hosted Skyy Vodka @ Betty's

Yesterday I shot the Ten for $10 Tour at the Metro, it was such a good time. I had my friend Danielle meet me there early so we could interview Trapped Under Ice, Ghost Inside and Poison the Well. Everyone I met yesterday were pretty cool guys too. A few bands into the show we went next door with Terror and began our day drunk at 2pm. Many, many, many drinks later we came back to finish shooting the show; Poison the Well & Bane. After that we went back to some bar with Ghost Inside and them celebrating their tour managers birthday getting him smashed and playing shuffle board that was inside the bar. Most hardcore game ever, apparently.

Last week I also photographed Manson and Slayer at the Metal Mayhem Fest. Now THAT was a spectacle, at least Manson's show. He's so weird looking in person and up close. I was never that into his music, I still haven't really listened to it but his opener was pretty good, I think it had something to do with being an American off of his new CD. But after that he only played for like 30 minutes, what a fucking rip off? (...Had I paid). Tickets for it were ridiculous, I think people were paying $65 for pit tickets? Fuck that. Maybe I'm just cheap but I would never pay that much for a show. Slayer was pretty crazy though, along with Trivium and God Forbid. I still need to edit the photos from both of these shows. I've been overwhelmed with shooting that editing all of these photos and taking forever.

Here are some photos from August Burns Red / Blessthefall / Enter Shikari / Iwrestledabearonce from a few weeks ago at the House of Blues. The shots came out pretty well I thought. Honestly, I think I take better photographs the more I drink. I definitely think they're getting more quality as the night goes on. Is this some Terry Richardson/Charles Bukowski syndrome? Haha.

Afterwards, there are some shots from a burlesque show I went to at this club called Debonair in Chicago. They have a burlesque night every Wednesday, how can you pass that and free PBR up? No. You can't. Actually, maybe I'll go do that tonight for an hour or so. It's so fucking nice out right now but I'm stuck here editing photos. That's fine, I walked to Walgreens earlier haha, I can take a few more hours inside. I feel exhausted from yesterday and all that hardcore.

Also: I bought a pair of shades a couple of days ago, for the second time, and lost them yesterday. I blame Terror for getting me wasted. Thanks guys.

I'm slowly working with my webmaster to get a blog up on my site, we've been having some issues with the software and logging in. I wish I knew how to fix all of that shit, I haven't known HTML or worked with it since I was 15. So hopefully in the next few days I'll have a blog up on my website to post new photos more frequently than just having galleries of specific themes.

Food I've eaten today:
Chips
20 oz. Coca-Cola
2 Bowls of Cocoa Krispies

So if anyone is in the Chicagoland area, you should come out to some upcoming shows I'll be shooting at! It'd be cool to meet some other SGers in the area.

July 15 - August Burns Red / Blessthefall / Iwrestledabearonce / Shikari
July 26 - Rockstar Mayhem Festival - Marilyn Manson / Slayer / Cannibal Corpse / White Chapel / Black Dhalia Murder / Job for a Cowboy / and a bunch of other bands i dont care about.
August 2 - Chicago Rock'N'Roll Half-Marathon
August 4 - 10 for $10 Tour - Poison the Well / Bane / Terror & seven more hardcore bands I guess.
September 9 - Every Time I Die / Bring Me the Horizon / Oh Sleeper / Architects

That's a pretty metal line-up, isn't it?

Short update for now:
-I have a new haircut, Summer make over! I put some red lowlights in it too, but you can't see that from my older photo.
-I'm still working one day a week at the same bar and struggling through rent, bills and living essentials.
-I don't have internet at home right now so I'm typing this at the laundromat with Puerto-Ricans and little Black boys with mo hawks running around me.
-I'm taking two summer classes, one of which is Natural Disasters and it's pretty fucking sick. I love 'how the world ends' scenarios and disastrous events.
-I was on academic probation to be kicked out of Columbia College so I wrote a petition and was let back in, let's see if I can stop fucking up school and focus on something.

Most importantly: I'm spending my pre-fourth of July on a rooftop with friends, drinking ice cold beers and watching fireworks over the city.

I love life.

So things have gotten better since my disasterous Spring Break. I've just been stuck on a lot of schoolwork and trying to deal with finals taking up all of my free time. I feel like I haven't hung out with my friends or left my apartment in over two weeks and because of that I've been in a huge slump and really depressed. Yesterday, I chose to go to sleep at 9pm instead of riding a mile to an open bar/free food BBQ. Sad sack much? I'm hoping after I pick up a second job and school ends next week things will begin to look up.

Oh ya! If I don't pull my GPA above a 2.0 after this semester I'm kicked out of Columbia. I had no idea this was going to happen until I went in to talk to a counselor about registering for Summer courses. Thanks for keeping me in the loop, Columbia!

Come late June, Vianca is heading out Chicago way! We're going to fuck shit up! I can't wait!

I've also been trying to pitch this documentary tour photography idea to Vans for Warped tour but all I've gotten in reply are two photo pass opportunities and a chance to volunteer at the Rise Records tent. I wish I had better, or more contacts than I do! I swear, the idea rules in my head I just need the chance to do it.

Check out these two photos of As I Lay Dying @ The Congress Theatre in Chicago last week! There are only two in the spoiler, plenty more to come!

It's so rainy and dreary out tonight and I was called into work, luckily. I definitely have two speeches and a book report due tomorrow that I haven't really began and I work until 2 a.m. I'm the worst student and best procrastinator of all time.

Sorry all I did was bitch about school, that's the ONLY thing that has happened in my life since my last update. Suuuuucckkkss!

So, my trip here in California can basically be confined to my newest blog on MySpace: http://myspace.com/networkthug

So now after reading that... I'm sitting on this bed in a house I don't live in watching DVR House, I kind of want to delete all of her DVR's haha, but that's a bit too immature for me. (assuming you already don't think the blog itself was a bit immature, but I needed an avenue to vent).

I'm trying to get a friend to come pick me up from Santa Rosa and spend the day in San Francisco... I'm still shooting Jaguar Love / OK Go! in Santa Cruz tomorrow night @ the Catalyst! So if anyone is in the area, come out and party! Or.. just give me shit to do the rest of the week since the first day was a bust!

Is it bad that I'm only in my third week of classes and I'm already planning my Spring Break?

Any ideas?
