(It's one of those nights.)

On the edge, wondering at the void below. Contemplating its depth. I take a drag from my cigarette, exhaling the smoke...my silent scream. Inhale and watch it burn. Exhale the rage.

Inhale. Burn. Exhale. Sadness.
Inhale. Burn. Exhale. Bitterness.
Inhale. Burn. Exhale. Hopelessness.

Working my way through the darkness inside. Eyes aching with tears that won't fall. Last drag. Crush the glowing embers and wait for numbness to settle in.
