A month before the election and Obama's inching ahead... which means we can expect a nasty, negative onslaught from McCain and the Republicans over the next 30 days. Please don't fall for it. Please support Barack Obama, because he needs your support now (and on Nov. 4) more than ever. Thanks.

In the meantime, I'm off to a friend's wedding in New York State this weekend. Take it easy.

I'm not even going to try to explain what's going on with Wall Street, or the failed Congressional bailout plan, but I'm already disgusted by the politicalization of it all. That's above and beyond the nervousness we're all feeling. Frankly, I don't know what to think, or who to believe, as it relates to the economy and our financial outlook.
And that ticks me off even more.
Has anyone ever heard of these sites, Mint.com and Geezeo.com? They're free financial management sites (Geezeo is also a social network) that I just joined, and I was wondering if anyone else has tried them out, and what they think of them? So far, they seem kinda cool. I figure I could use some help with my finances and budgeting, so I thought I'd take a leap.

Measured, masterful, presidential, magical, strong. Last night was great not because Obama's speech was perfect, it was great because like Democrats before him, he dared to think big. The choice of the stadium and the backdrop were ridiculed but when you step back and think about it, we're at a moment in time when being small and thinking small is no longer acceptable.
And for that, Sen. Obama, I thank you. I hope and pray that you win on November 4.
Thank you, Sen. Clinton, thank you.

I'm writing this while she's delivering one of the barn-burner speeches of any Democratic convention... and she just knocked it out of the park. Absolutely brilliant.

The cynicism of this new McCain ad is beyond galling. Do the Republicans actually expect us to believe that THEY feel bad for Senator Clinton not being picked as VP? Please. If Obama had chosen her, the Republicans would have SAVAGED her worse than they did McCain in 2000. They would have attacked Obama, Clinton and the ticket in ways we can't even imagine. So please, McCain, spare us the cynicism and pessimism. The country has enough of it already.

So, let me get this straight, the three largest federal deficits were this year, 2004 and 1983, according to the Office of Management and Budget... and that doesn't even include the spending for the Iraq War. Oh, and all three of those deficits, they were rung up by Republican administrations.
Most of you know that I occasionally use this space to espouse my often-times liberal views, but please vote this fall. Don't take it for granted that you candidate will do fine without your vote. Whoever you're supporting needs every vote they can get. And, if you can see fit, please vote for Barack Obama. I'm not going to say that he will fix the budget deficit, but he will at least attempt to point us in another direction.

For this update I thought I'd ask you all some questions:
-When was the last time you got a raise at work, and were you satisfied with it?
-If you have a girlfriend or boyfriend (or a girlfriend AND boyfriend) are you currently in love with them? Or, are you merely deeply in like?
-Where do you turn for news on a daily basis?
-Have you decided who you will vote for this fall?
-How many vacations do you take in a year?
-What scares you?
-What kind of computer do you use at home and/or work?
Can't wait to read your responses.
CinderOla reminded me that I owe you some answers of my own, so here goes:
-It's been over a year so I'm due.
-Merely deeply in like. But it's growing closer to love.
-Online, primary Huffington Post, NY Times, Politico, CNN, Real Clear Politics, Fox News, MSNBC and a few others.
-Yup, look back to some of my previous posts and you'll know who.
-Zero, but I travel a fair bit for work.
-Debt, no job, inability to pay my bills, heights, horror movies
-Mac (Mac Mini and a Macbook Pro) and a crappy Dell desktop
