Rain-Hot-Rain-Hot all summer I guess. My grapevines don't even realize they're not living in the South of France anymore. If you squint you can even imagine Cherokee Lake(TVA) is the Med. Can't say as i've ever seen the Onassis yacht go by yet tho. Too hot to work ouside so I'll probably just stay in the AC spaces and surf.
So much for farming this weekend, only rain. The grapes like it, but it only makes me muddy. I'll be forced to be intellectual and read and research. Starting to think about working on alternate fuels. Just something to keep my car going in case the world creates another fantasy fuel shortage. I really like fantasy, but not we it involves walking allot. A wine powered car would be nice. Maybe a tap on the dash for emergencies. Now that I 've had time to think about it more, perhaps I'll just research naked girls on SG. That's a muck more pleasant endeavor than primary science anyway. Stop by if cyberspace slows down near here.

Long weekend finally. More vineyard improvements on the list. The new grapevines are getting big enough to need support now. Time to dig holes and string wires. Exciting stuff isn't? Its good to be away from the management midgets for a few days. :mad
o I have an authority aversion? Hell yes, The beaners have taken over the world, and I don't mean Mexicans either, I like them, they're good hardworking people. Back to the dirt for now.
Fig trees have gone to fruit heaven. Apparently they don't like cold, which it really wasn't last winter. Life goes on, time to plant more Chardonet and Pinot Blanc. Too many bees around figs anyway. Someday I hope to see vineyard to the horizon. Lots of work before that tho.
All of my grafted grapevines sprouted above the grafts this spring. May not sound very exciting, but this is a major miracle. My olive trees survived the winter as well. If we can get global warming to kick it up another notch, maybe we can have avacados in TN too! I know, all the tree huggers are cringing. Well remember, Antarctica used to be tropical & Dinosaurs used to live in Manitoba. Sounds like things were warmer at one time. May not have such a long drive to the beach either. Oceanfront property in Ashville would be nice, better buy early tho.
Farming today, Finally planted the French grapevines. Chardonay is on its way. Probably 5 years from now. The only current crop is grass, Kentucky Fescue, not the other. Now that the vines are in the ground, I have visions of the whole place looking like Southwest Spain. I must have more Savignon Blanc or I'll surely die.
