Just time for a new "blog" I suppose. Life is continuing to kick me in the ass. But in the end, I shall prevail! lol What's the point if I don't believe that? At least the NBA season starts today. So, once again....

Go Lakers!!!

OK, so, I'll update my blog and see what happens.

Still unemployed, still pretty broke(n). Still trying hard to remedy that situation.

Been reading a whole bunch of GREAT Star Trek book as they're in the middle of a couple year process bringing all the storylines in the same time period into one giant story arch. Great stuff. Moves the story of TNG, DS9, Voyage and Titan (Riker's ship) forward by leaps and bounds. Well written with interesting stories and great character development. Far more moved by these books than by anything associated with the new movie. Stop givin' me leftovers! I want to taste something new.

So ready for the NBA playoffs. I've had league pass since the season began, so at this point I've watched hundreds of ganes. I know the last ten games are important - spots are still being decided. But I am SO ready.

Prince's new album is worth the $12 and then some (even if you have to make a trip to target). I joined the website, which at this point, ain't worth two shits (flash heavy, requires 1GB RAM to run properly, light on content because the albums didn't download at first). But the albums, particularly the first disc, Lotusflow3r, are really quite good. I would go so far as to say that Lotusflow3r is a high point of his later career. It's full of Prince psychadelica and blues based rock, along with a few tracks that mention back to the phrasing of his best nineties pop songs (yes, nineties - it's a pleasant return). Barely a pause thorugh the entire disc, in tone and construct, it's reaching for SOTT, doesn't quite get there. But still, with the searing, lengthy guitar solos and the overall, "wow, didn't think Prince still got this weird" vibe, it's a no-skip listen for me. The second disc, MPLSoUND, is a little more hit and miss. More electro and synthy, supposedly it contains some of Prince's first experimentation with ProTools. It's still good, but there are several tracks that I will always skip. More in line with how I've felt about all the other releases post-TRC. The third disc, Elixer (with his new woman Bria Valente) just doesn't have enough Prince. No guitar at all really. You can tell the production is him thoughout, but the tracks where he steps it up musically or does harmony/duet style vocals with her are instantly elevated. Problem is, there's like, three of those. All in all, it's 2 hours and 20 minutes (I've found that I really love an hour and a half of it) for $12, really highly recommended.

A'ight. Peace.
