So the Bar that I tend at has pissed me off to the max. When I first started there TATTOOS were not allowed to be shown, then they changed their rules and orientation papers so that tattoos can be shown as long as they're not offensive. So I was like, "Sweet, now I can get my sleeve started" so I did, I;ve been working there for over a year now with my tattoos showing (NOT offensive by the way, a large Irish tree on my right sleeve that I started) Now they have told me yesterday that I need to go back to covering them up. When I asked why they said it's because some of the older customers don't really like them.
I'm sorry but isn't that discrimination? Isn't that like saying, oh umm please get me another server because I'm not fond of your skin color. Or not liking someones altered hair color.
This is bull shit and needs to stop. Thinking about pursuing my friend who is an attorney and filing a discrimination suit or at least having him write a letter to corporates HR department.
Any thoughts?

I definitely consider it discrimination, but I don't think people who have no tattoos see it that way. For many folks tattoos indicate that a person is antisocial, rebellious and all kinds of crap. We know that's rubbish, but they don't. I don't think there's anything you can do about it without harming your job in the process. I'm sure that with time this will all change, but it will take a while.
