OK
enough with the sadness and badness- thanks to everyone unfortunate enough to catch my last blog entry for the kind condolences.
moving on.
well despite the lovely comments of those who saw my last set in member review it appears as though the timing might have been bad. i can't imagine that the set isn't good enough. that shit looks good. shazzy did an amazing job of making me look hot in a dirty taxi cab in the middle of the city- i don't believe that the quality is not up to standard.
it seems that maybe i didn't do enough self promotion as some girls have the time to do for their sets. the timing was off because i was in the middle of a move when the set went up, and i had no access to the internet for well over two weeks. then my computer decided to crash on me and was in the shop for another week. then of course, there was the loss of my aunt and well.. anyway. life is shitty sometimes and you wish the darkness was more tangible so that it would actually suffocate you and not just feel like it's going to, but it doesn't, so you continue to live and eventually things start to clear up a little.
the emo is slowly escaping my lungs. i DID manage to get through it without writing any angsty poetry so thats good news.

so it's been a rough few weeks since the beginning of school.
my aunt, Franca died. she was young, and very active before she became sick.
she was small, and smaller due to her illness. her fingers were shrinking, so at the end she had these tiny hands. they didn't look weird.. just like very little hands.
she was so cute, and so boisterous and joyful. and i didn't spend nearly enough time with her.
i'm having such a hard time getting over this.. school is both a good distraction and an added stress, and i can't seem to get my shit together.
everything keeps moving around me, but i'm only working at half-capacity- the rest is a haze.

FIRST Thankyou SOOO much to all the lovely people who commented on my new review set!
OK updates!
i didn't have any internet set up at my new apartment for a long time. then when i FINALLY got that all set up, my computer crapped out.
so here is zak, all excited about her new set, reduced to quickly trying to check the status of her online life at internet cafes and friends' houses. boo...
it was a dark time of my life that i've been trying to forget.
NOW i have my trusty old computer with shiny new guts- they replaced the disc drive, as well as the hard drive, and cleaned out the fans in my brave baby. so let the interwebbing begin.
lets catch you up then..
in the past few months i have been busy, on my bike about town, registering for for some independent university study. that's right. zak's gonna learn something.
this semester i'm taking two classes: intro to Italian, and Physics.
i haven't started yet, but i like the two classes already just based on the reaction i get when i tell people what i'm taking. get over it people, i'm taking physics.
here are some tacky boudoir style photos i took of myself while i was subletting the smallest room ever (without a window), before i moved into my tiny apartment (with a window).

Taxi cab Confessions
it's hot and sexy everyday in texas lately. but i'm headed back to canada in a couple of weeks, and it's only 14 Celsius over there right now. this is very depressing news.
i don't want to leave the amazing heat for a chilly summer back home. that's not right.
in slightly more interesting news, i've been watching a lot of documentaries lately. it's become a sort of accidental marathon. here's my list so far:
Grey Gardens
possibly one of the best documentaries i've ever seen. just great.
Crazy Love
it gave me chills, made me laugh, and made me sad for people. but i did find the documentary was a little too flashy. the story itself and people involved are interesting enough that you don't need any special camera work or dramatic collages interjecting constantly.
Salesman
I wasn't sure about a documentary about Bible Salesmen in the 50's, but it was really captivating and sad. If you're a people watcher, you'll really get into this film.
Gates of Heaven
a documentary about pet cemeteries... weird.. a bit sad.. not bad, but weird..
Seven Up! the entire series to date.
this is just fucking cool. and i watched every single dvd they've made up until 49 up. i don't feel like explaining it, but i think everybody should watch it. so interesting.
and that's it so far. do you have any suggestions for great weird/human interest documentaries?

I AM DRUNK, WASHING TOWELS!
why, you ask? because i get free yoga classes for washing towels once a week.
the only problem is, it's friday night, and i went out after work with some of my favorite coworkers. the bartender was lovely and fed me tequila and beer, and what they call "slippery nipples" here in texas, is what they call a "juicy pussy" at home in montreal.
a mixture of baileys, and butterscotch liqueur.. it's delicious... but mixed with all the other junk i drank in such a short amount of time... well... i'm fucked.
have mercy on my writing skills.
i am neither drunk, nor tired.... eee.... but i might be a liar

definitely not tired.....

so.. texas.. woo! sxsw.. woo!
i met up with erin_broadley, SG's editor, news lady at sxsw, and possibly made a fool of myself on camera for this site. i was fairly liquored by the time the camera started rolling.. maybe it will be unusable material, or maybe it will be funny in that humiliating sort of way- or worse- boring in a humiliating sort of way. only time will tell.
my trip out here so far has been mellow, and good. i've met some lovely people, and seen some country side.. some cacti and empty ghost houses in a little town out in the boons.
the weather is a boring subject, but whatever, it's warm here. i like that.
i eat tacos every day. i drink iced tea and tequila- not mixed, but i might try that. i cut hair. i answer phones. i listen to music. and i sketch a little here and there. i want to see the desert. that's my next road trip.
