Hey guys & dolls, I need your advice!

So the category is "tattoo experience etiquette."

And the question... I brought in a non-English phrase to get tattooed, wrote it out for the artist, and made sure the accents were correct. I failed to double-check the spelling and one letter is wrong -- but one little line will fix in and I'm so not losing any sleep over it.

BUT. Since I'm getting that itch to shoot a new set, I need this fixed, because I'd find it silly to not do so first when it's so easy. I think it would be better to wait a few weeks and save for something else I want, and get my artist to fix the letter during that session since it will literally take 60 seconds. Some of my friends say why wait, though, just go in and ask for it to be fixed. I think it would be rude to expect all the set-up and such for a quick fix that was MY mistake, but they say it doesn't matter.

What do you think?

Any touch-ups should be free from your artist, so if it's a minor line, get him / her to do it.

I say wait until your tattoo is healed so that way if you need touch ups they can do it at the same time. Touch ups are usually free.

I agree with Lee -- wait just long enough to see if there are any additional touch-ups needed and then drop in for that. If it bothers you much, then just tip nicely. smile

Your artist might tell you it's no big deal, but I think there's a bit more to it than that. It was your fault, no question. It takes time to set up to fix it (The 60 seconds of actual tattooing is a small fraction of the actual time required), nevermind a potential appointment cancelled to accommodate you. This is not a touch-up, this is extra work required through no fault of the artist, and it would be unfair to ask him/her to fix your mistake for nothing. I think, if you're planning on going in again for more work, having him/her fix it then would be a lot more considerate. Or, if you do need touch-ups, getting it done then would also work, as they've already set up and made time for you.

Go with your original though. Even if they straight-up tell you they don't mind, they'll appreciate your consideration, and reciprocate it back to you.

Yeah, no problem. I figured that would be the case. It is with the guy I go to for my tattoo's.
