Well I survived yet another hurricane! It was pretty bad. The storm itself was so slow moving it stayed over us for what felt like an entire day. I went and stayed at my parents house, which is about 200years old. I thought that if it has survived all of the hurricanes the past 200 years we were pretty safe. Though being in a wood frame house with winds up to 80mph is a little disconcerting. The entire house seemed to shift back and forth. Then 90% of New Orleans and the surrounding area were left without power. It was pretty terrible living without for it for 5 days, but I consider myself lucky because things could have been so much worse.

A generator and fans did nothing to touch this New Orleans heat.

A lot of card games were played and tensions were high.

Headlamps were worn
Then on Sunday the power was restored. We were all very thankful. The animals especially.

Life has gotten back to normal now. I'm working and schooling and being exhausted, but at least I've got the comfort of power.

my spidey senses told me it would not hit florida and go to the gulf and slam somewhere else, damnit. i mean... i really wanted a hurricane but i didnt want anyone to die or lose their home, nor suffer. i just wanted some spooky winds, down trees, community bonding, and a cool party at my place. but instead it was lame and ran away from us. sorry you lost electric, and the pics show damage much worse than i was expecting to happen, but damn that gulf of mexico... you guy have been getting everything for the past 7 years.

Glad you're all ok, I got to hand it to you guys. You love it there, and you wouldn't leave despite that kind of danger. It also seems myother friends around there are in good shape. All in all, very grateful for that.
