Time for a huge update.

First things first! My new set, Show Pony, is up in member review! Please go check it out and let me know what you think!

This is my first set to go up in member review, as I haven't shot for SG in about 2 years. For a minute there I wasn't going to shoot anymore, didn't really like what I thought this new system would mean, and thought that Wendy sets would be a thing of the past. As I've seen this system implemented and grow, I really like it and am really into all of the creativity it is inspiring and amazing sets it is producing. I was also recently in Ohio with some of my favorite photographers, so what's a girl to do? I shot a few sets and you will see them over the next few months. They are all different, but all me. This is the first I have to show to you, and I'm really, really proud of it. I certainly hope you enjoy it as well.

A little background. I adore the midwest, adore animals, and adore farms. My mother grew up on a dairy farm in southern Missouri and growing up in the midwest we would frequently visit there since her parents still lived there. She had cows, horses, chickens, and a pet pig. Also lots of cats (and kittens!) as well as snakes. I wish I could post some pictures here but all of my childhood pictures are back at my parents' house. I will, however, post more pictures of me playing with horses in Story, Indiana. I love horses, love riding them, went to horseback riding camp when I was younger and was so excited to get this opportunity to shoot with Alissa. We had a bit of difficulty keeping the ponies around, but they show up in more than a few of the shots and are totally adorable. Alissa and I shot in Columbus, but these are some adorable Hoosier Horses I became friends with at another time:

My trip to the US involved a lot of flying. Tel Aviv to Rome. Rome to New York. (insert greyhound bus adventure here). Indiana to New York. New York to Rome. (insert 12 hour layover in a downpour in Rome here). Rome to Tel Aviv. I'm terrified of flying, and one of the only things that can keep me sane is to take pictures throughout the flight. Here is some evidence of that:

While in the US I spent some time in New York with people that I love. My best friend lives in Brooklyn so I stayed with her while we drank lots of alcohol, ate lots of sushi, and shopped in the pouring rain. Thanks for the warm welcome, Hurricane Hanna! I got to see lots of old friends and laugh a whole lot.

I also met Brooklyn for the first time, and she's wonderful! We had a lovely time together, went out to Lit, then the next day had a little bit of fun involving a beautiful deck and a beautiful camera. Details of that in the coming months. I also had the pleasure of meeting Delancey that day, and she is just to die for... I'm kind of in love with her and her love of Ani and a lot of other things up there in that brain of hers. Everyone should check out her member review set, by the way, shameless plug for Delancey, because it's super sexy.

In addition to New York, I also spent some time in Indiana. Bloomington of course, which is where I went to school, to spend good times with friends, big bags of weed, jimmy johns, and L word reruns. And, I was also there to be a bridesmaid in the wedding of one of my best friends. Her wedding was at a beautiful Inn in Brown County, Indiana, and the bridesmaids had our own little cabin that was right near the main lodge where we got all free home cooked food all weekend long (best pancakes ever). The wedding was over by this huge barn, it was absolutely beautiful and inspiring. It was also nice to spend the week with some of my best friends in the entire world, who I love and miss so dearly.

And, of course, there was my time in Ohio. I was there twice during my trip, once for Havana and once to go back to visit my ladies AlissaBrunelli, Sunshine, Radeo, Frolic, Meow and Havana, and my dude durb, who got busy with my right calf:

First of all, Alissa and Durb are the most hospitable people around, really. They are such darlings and treated me like a queen. I love them! My second trip was so, so short (too short), but I loved every single second of it, even when Alissa was bragging about never making crazy turns and driving into pot holes, and even when we thought it might be a good idea to prop my head up with a stick.

So. Havana. Pinups for Soldiers. Columbus.

I had such a great time, and met so many new amazing ladies I can't even begin to list them. I also saw so many old friends I can't even begin to list them all either. It was so nice to meet and spend time with Cherry for the first time. I adore her so much and I can't wait to hang out with her again! She is so easy to hang out with and I just feel like I relate to her... we may have a certain something coming your way, you never know!

I also had an amazing time with my roomies at The Lofts. I hadn't seen Taye in forever and it was so good to snuggle and have some girl talk, I've missed her. And Karma is absolutely adorable and amazing. She brought flowers back to the room, and things like red bean cakes. She was pretty much a girl I want to marry.

I also had so much fun and lots of laughs with the likes of Rigel, Amina, Havana, Sunshine, AlissaBrunelli, Radeo, Cain, and Sawa, who I also played around with a little bit.. and it involved some room service and a camera.

Everything went so great, the photoshoot for Pinups for Soldiers went swimmingly and at the events we raised lots of money for the project! All in all I can say I'm super happy and excited and ..... looking forward to next year! I have no doubt in my mind that we can all make it even bigger and better than this one was, and that the Havana/Pinups for Soldiers weekend will be something that will continue for a long time. I've stolen some upcoming pictures from Taye and AlissaBrunelli.

show pony. september 27th.

i just got back to israel after about 48 hours of traveling, including a 12 hour layover during a thunderstorm in Rome. it was a freezing, sleepy, annoying 12 hours. but i got through it, got to the airport at 3:30am in tel aviv, got home at 6:30, and was welcomed by my pup! i get to see my man on thursday, he's at a training session for his job until then.

i will post a big huge picture heavy update soon, i promise. i just need to rest for a bit and upload about a jillion pictures!

now i'm going to do a survey.

Five Things You May Not Know About My Time In School Are:

1. i missed one out of 5 days my last year of high school. most of those days i was probably stoned...actually, i was stoned the days i was there, too. i got a 32 on my ACTs though, bitches. i made out alright.
2. most of my courses senior year were AP courses. and i did them stoned.
3. i started college as a journalism major, switched to apparel merchandising, switched to criminal justice, and then settled down with psychology. i graduated with a degree in psychological and brain sciences
4. bloomington, indiana is a fucking AMAZING place and i would probably still be living there if I didn't move to Israel.
5. while living in indiana i ran an internet startup, worked at hot toipc, at an inpatient mental health center, and at the kinsey institute.

Five Things You May Not Know About the Job (Jobs) I Have (Or Had) Are:

1.i guess i just talked about that above. i have also worked at the gap and at arden b. THAT was fun.
2. i used to be a florist
3. for quite some time i cut glass and made picture frames. then they were sold for lots and lots of money at expensive picture/painting stores. i cut my hands often.
4. i worked in real estate for a few weeks and then quit when i realized how much it blows. it blows... a LOT.
5. i'm naked on the internet. shocked

Five Things You May Not Know About What I Do In A Typical Day Are:

1. apply for lots of jobs
2. cook
3. obsessively clean my teeth. you know.. brush, floss, mouthwash.
4. check lots of websites obsessively. especially email.
5. try to take my dog for long walks and usually fail. he just likes to do his thing and come back inside. i don't blame him.

Five Things You May Not Know About My Online Life Are:

1. i was a member on SG for a while before i applied
2. i work for chacha, sometimes. i hate it. but i don't have a job.
3. i know i can always find what i want on ebay. sometimes on ebay when i don't win i email the seller and offer more money. i think that's against the rules.
4. i check people's away messages i don't even talk to anymore
5. i use the internet for lots of things... getting news, looking for/applying for jobs, finding recipes to make dinner

Five Things You May Not Know About My Home Life Are:

1. i live in jerusalem, in what technically is labeled as "occupied territory." on a clear day i can see Jordan from my street.
2.i feed feral kittens, and my neighbors don't like it.
3. i live with an incredibly loud call to prayer being played, 5 times a day, from the surrounding arab villages. it is LOUD. very loud.
4. most of my apartment is furnished by IKEA. everything is IKEA except for the dog and the man. and me, of course.
5. i would really love to live on a farm and not in a city. i hate cities.

Five Things You May Not Know About Where I Live Are:

1. israel is not as "different" as people assume that it is. i get asked about it all the time, how it is to live there, if it's scary, if it's hard. it is definitely a lot safer than a lot of places in the US. but i guess all of the security makes me feel BETTER. it doesn't make me feel unsafe. for the most part, israel is up to par with the US. in other ways, however, it is a third world country. it's an interesting mix and makes for some ... experiences. and it definitely has made me a LOT less materialistic. living outside of the US will do that to you. i care a lot less about crap like clothes and shoes and TV and who said what about who. a lot more about the simple things, you know, waking up next to the person i love. being happy with my man and my puppy.
2. we have winter! a lot of people think that because i live in the middle east that it's all hot all desert weather all the time. it snows in Jerusalem. it's pretty hilarious when it does, too. EVERYTHING stops. the roads are empty. and it snows like 2 inches. israelis are terrified of snow.
3. i can drive east to west across Israel in about 45 minutes.
4. i was conceived in Jerusalem. My parents lived in Israel in 1981-1982 because my dad was in school there. They were having no luck getting pregnant, and decided to adopt a child while they were living in Israel (the first time they told me this story, my dad started CRYING and stopped talking, so, i thought i was adopted. until he stopped crying and continued. it was awesome). Anyway, after deciding to adopt, they got pregnant, and it was with me. They moved back to the states a couple of months before I was born.
5. israelis are the worst drivers in the world. i think a lot contributes to it... stress, chutzpah (for those of you who know that word, it's basically a word invented just for Israelis that means like, obnoxiously audacious. I can't really define it. It doesn't exist in English. It's Israeli-specific), and just, everything being so fucking difficult that it takes an entire day to run 2 errands. that could drive anyone insane behind the wheel. traffic is awful and lines are incredible. i've definitely been near nervous-breakdown quite a few times while driving in jerusalem. Just recently when trying to merge into a turn lane and trying to get over a woman rolled down her window and said to me "i'm sorry beautiful, i haven't eaten since this morning, i have to get the fuck home" as she sped off. yeah.

Five Things You May Not Know That I Desperately Want Are:

1. a JOB. a job!
2. photoshop for my mac
3. admission to grad school. i just wish there was a grad school program for me in English, in Israel.
4. a farm and a big yard so that i can have lots of dogs
5. lots of dogs. i'd like an army of boxers. i'd also like more room in my apartment for books, a Wii, and a job. did i say that already?

Five Things You May Not Know That Are Really Important To Me Are:

1. the two lovely men in my life, the man and the jadadog.
2. family. my brother is my best friend.
3. israel. jerusalem.
4. music. reading about it, listening to it, learning about it, going to see it. i know a LOT about it. i love it. it's my life.
5. my hobbies that i don't really talk about ever. i write and i sing, always have, it's stuff that i never show anyone or never let anyone listen to. but it happens, all the time. and i love it.

Item 2!

As I've mentioned before, on August 28th around 50 suicidegirls are getting together in Columbus, Ohio to shoot some lingerie prints for troops, have a massive party at Havana, raffle off lots of SG goodies to raise money for the project, shoot some sets, and just party and have a good time. Some of my favorite SG's will be there... and I can't wait to spend some time with the likes of NicoleLee, Sunshine, Taye, Sawa, Rigel, Cherry, Amina, Radeo, Ajilee, and Cain. And of course the lovely AlissaBrunelli!

Please come out! We are trying to generate as much publicity and raise as much money for this project as we can during this weekend, so we would adore any support you can give us.

zoom image

Other than that, I'm spending my days watching the Olympics! My guy and I have been going on a lot of dates lately too, which is nice. Nothing like still dating after 2 years.

Lots of exciting news and projects to come, so keep checking in! xoxo.

I'll be here, along with around 50 (with the numbers growing every day) other SG's for this little shindig...

zoom image

you should all come out! it will definitely go down in SG history.

aside from that, nothing much is new. i had a job interview today for a job that i really, really want. send positive vibes my way!

Obama will be here tomorrow, in Jerusalem. I'm sick enough of the traffic. I don't get why he's coming and it's just going to fuck up how long it takes me to get from one place to another. There are enough important people coming here all the time an messing up traffic....

We got an awesome rug today and i'm so all about doing pilates in my living room now, every single day. We got some maroon gingham curtains and pillows too. They go great in our little home, as do our rooster canisters and apple pot holders. My little country house in east jerusalem.

do you have any questions for me? people ask me things a lot and they get lost in the shuffle, i forget to answer, so here's the deal, my next blog is going to be dedicated to asking whatever it is you'd like to know. ask away!

Now that that's over. ...

Today is a sad day in Israel. I have been in tears watching the two funerals of Udi and Eldad.

Things like this are just another clear example for the world of how this fight is between a civilized nation and utter barbarians.

How the Lebanese, the Palestinians, the Iranians, the Syrians, etc... can celebrate the release from jail of a man who murdered a 4 year old child with the butt of his rifle is just...there are few words.

I had the privilege of seeing Karit Goldwasser speak a few months ago about her husband and about how much we need to fight to bring him home safely. He was returned in a coffin, by cowardly, despicable terrorists.

It is such a shame that we have to go through this again, and again, and again.

I have a sticker on my laptop here that has a picture of the three soldiers who have been held captive and some writing in Hebrew which says "don't let your apathy kill them."

We basically know now that Goldwasser and Regev were never alive in captivity. Hezbollah were allowing us, for 2 years, to believe that they were alive, to believe we could bring them back to their families to continue their lives in Israel. I guess I should take this sticker off now? I don't know. Hopefully Gilad Shalit can come home to us soon, and hopefully these kidnappings end.

On a much brighter note! in case any of you missed the best PM I have ever gotten here on SG, here it is again.

Don't waste your time feeling sorry for me. Please! Unlike yourself, I don't give two shits if the liberal folks around here like me or not. And I must say, it is news to me that I am an embarrassment to the likes of Uptight, Stockula, DeadBilly, Abbazappa, and SergeantPsycho. I may get carried away sometimes, HONEY, but I do know for one thing, what your pals have to say about me, you know, folks like PB and Cash and Subrosa, means nothing more than the bowel movement I have in the morning. I am sorry that you feel the need to cave and pander to those idiots, but those idiots are the same folks that are going to help put into place policy makers that are going to allow Israel to get fucked. Have fun with your strange fucking bed fellows. Do you really think that making them think you are taking your clothes off only for them is going to change their political thought process and reasoning? I don't think so.
