Congratulations. I was following the wedding on the various social internets, and it looked positively lovely.

If you were going further South in New Mexico (of which I've seen pretty much all there is to see having gone on several trips out there in my younger days to visit my Grandma and Step-Grandpa who lived in Deming) I'd say go to Alamogordo and check out White Sands, which is one of the coolest places I've ever been.

That said, it's about 3 hours south on Hwy 70? If I remember from that direction. I can't recall if it's between Las Cruces and Alamogordo or which one it is closer to.

White Sands are cool
also Bandolier Park for ancient Anasazi ruins that are very accessible and very bizarre stone formations.
in Santa Fe: eat at Pasquales and Tecolote for nice hot Tex-Mex chiles
in Albuqueque a slightly upscale and yummy place is Artichoke.
I like the Old Town of Albuquerque better than that of Santa Fe - but the Masonic Temple in Santa Fe is very cool.

the parks: buy a year pass, it should save you money going in and out of all these places: take an ace bandage, sunscreen and a ton or water! even at this time of year.

Las Vegas: um, everything?

Santa Fe! Oh dear, my hometown. Pretty much anywhere you stay in the downtown area is nice, but try and stay off of cerillos rd if you are booking your hotel in advance. http://www.sfreporter.com/santafe/articles.sec-130-1-best-of-santa-fe-2012.html all of the winners are wonderful for food, even the 2nd and 3rd place winners. Eating is one of the best ways to experiance Santa Fe. You can probably do Albuquerque in a day trip, the nob hill area is nice and so are all of the hotels near indian school and I-40. Not much for sightseeing near the airport in ABQ, but there is some nice shopping in uptown and again near the I-40 and indian school area. The sales tax is cheaper than most places (like Vegas) if you want to get some MAC or whatever. congrats ♥

Albuquerque is my hometown, and it is a really pretty place for the most part. For sure take the tram to the top of the sandia mountains, try to catch the sunset from up top, it can get chilly even in the summer so be prepared.
If you want to check out some seriously cool wacky Americana then stop by a place called tinkertown on the back of the mountain on the way to cedar crest. Just ask around, people will know where it is.

Nob hill can be fun too, its got a mixture of trendy yuppy bullshit sprinkled with some honest to goodness great shops and some amazing restaurants. I am a huge fan of the Monte Vista Fire station.

Santa fe is a great place but if you want an amazing Experience go and check out a place called Shidont foundry and sculpture park. It is about 10 minutes outside of santa fe in a place called Tesuque Village. Go on a Saturday if you can. Every hour on the hour they pour molten bronze for casting monumental sized statues and if you havent seen it before its pretty fucking rad.

If you guys can pull it off I highly recommend going to Ruidoso, and maybe spending some time at The Inn of the Mountain Gods.....Its amazing.

And on a sad note, I hope you are not planning on going to Roswell. It sucks smile

Enjoy and Mazel Tov

Nah, I can't finish it. tongue Have fun- I'd suggest the Grand Canyon, if only because I've always wanted to see it myself.

The plaza is really nice. You'll love it! Anywhere in that area is good. Cerillos road is the main business route, believe it or not the city only has 2 roads that go all the way from one end of the city to the other, one is mostly residentual and the other (cerillos) is where the grocery stores, etc are. The hotels there are priced less because they are harder to get to the plaza and the traffic is horrible. Public transport is bad in Santa Fe, the bus is not reliable as far as time and doesn't run on Sunday and the taxi's are overpriced. I don't know how you are getting from ABQ to Santa Fe and back, but renting a car at the airport in ABQ is probably the most economical route. What a beautiful time you picked to visit- hopefully the trees will still have some fall leaves on them.

Lastly, as far as things to do the hotel concierge at your hotel will be super friendly and helpful. That city makes most of it's money from tourism so they will know everything about places to hike, great spas, anything you can imagine. I don't know when you will be in town but the Albuquerque International Balloon Fieata is coming up next week and is life changing.

Phew! That was a lot of information fired at you in rabid sucession. I hope you take lots of photos, have an amazing time and enjoy your honeymoon. I'm so happy for you and you are a beautiful bride.
