Since ever i have been fashinated by Africa, this huge continent of warm colors, habitat of my very fave animals. A paradise of uncontamineted places, landscapes, smells, colors, traditions, body modifications, tribal awereness. Since i was a little kid the only things i watched on the telly were documentaries about Africa.
I always wanted my family to adopt a liltte black sister. Eventually my parents are now long-distance adopting a teenager in Ruanda
My 5 years relationship with an half eritrean boy has been indeed a confirmation about all my interest and fondness about the black culture. i was just 18 when we met. I was so in love with him it almost felt unreal. I have spent lots of days at his familiy, eating traditional eritrean meals, drinking african tea with his granny and trying to learn such a difficult language 'tigrino' is.
Its funny how confidentially this blog has begun, don't even know why i am typing this
but it feels so confortable
However this has something to do with what my mind has been wondering today. I was thinking about the new year (not only as 2012 but as future), what my ambitions and plans are, new travels, new destinations, new photographic works... a lot accured to my head i had to make a list on my sketchbook.
One of the thing which would make me feel complete, happy, fulfilled and satisfied is a time off from my life which is full of work//shooting/cooking/sport/alchool/concerts/ (and of course much more) and travel to africa to be a volunteer. For a while i wanna dedicate my time to others and less to myself. I wanna submerge myself into their lives, culture, tradition, cuisine. I know it might be a big plan, cos i am quite reluctant on attending any christian organizations. I know there are TONS of different organizations, not governative ones for istance..definitely a better option
Lets see how things are evolving on my side in the coming months/year and hopefully sooner rather than later i will make this dream come true. It will take its time, i can feel it, but the fact that i have such a radical feeling about it make me already feel rather content.
