You might try mixing some cayenne with your plant's water. Garlic oil and peppermint oil can also be useful in dealing with bugs. Or do some research on neem oil foliar sprays. Are you just growing with sunlight, or do you have artificial light? If it's the latter, you may just need to water more heavily. Otherwise try putting a saucer under the pot, and water heavily enough that some excess runs out the bottom and sits in the saucer for later re-absorption.

Oh, fruit flies, they drive me crazy on my plants too! I put little stones or shells on top of the bare soil, it seems to help xx
