Ha, once i was in a bicycle crash and my first thought was "are my sunglasses ok?" too. (I had broken a rib and completely smashed my helmet though...)

i've had may share of dumb bike wrecks. my most spectacular had to be when i was speeding downhill and had to hit the brake for a dog that suddenly appeared from between some parked cars. i think the dog was as stunned as i was (no i didn't hit the dog).

I hope you're okay. I was once riding a lawnmower and bashed my head on a low branch of a cherry tree and I was more worried about my glasses flying off than the knot on my head. I've never had any really spectacular bicycle crashes, though.
Thanatogenous is also a fire dancer - she uses a hula hoop lined with torches.

It's nothing you did, it's an obvious design flaw in the bike.
